We opened our Gallery and Coffeebar, Monkey Forest Road, in Oakland in December of 2011. Monkey Forest Road is the main street in Ubud, the cultural center of Bali, Indonesia, and we named our shop after it because when we first traveled to Bali over

ten years ago, we instantly fell in love with not only the beautiful style of arts and crafts there, but also the great kindness and openness of the Balinese people. Through our travels, we met many local and expatriate artists whom were living and working all over Indonesia, and producing really incredible works of art, the likes of which we had never encountered in the United States, and in all different mediums. Several years ago, we decided to bring these amazing works to the U.S. by renovating a big old bank building on Grand Avenue in Oakland into an art gallery, and added a state of the art coffee bar to serve delicious Verve coffee and house made artisan baked goods. In our gallery, you will find beautifully designed furniture, extraordinary jewelry, incredible artworks, and other unique accessories for the home. All of our lines come from a variety of different artists, many of whom with we have close working relationships - some pieces have even been designed exclusively for us! All items are imported from Southeast Asia, mostly from Bali. We find high quality and unique designs by working both with local artisans, and with expatriate artists who have learned to apply the eye for detail and perfection they learned in the West, with the meticulous craftsmanship and artistic sensibility of the local workers. We choose items from a variety of materials, but always of the highest quality, such as fine sterling silver, hand dyed leather, real pearl, and hand carved rose gold. This venture has been a great success and we are proud to now also be able to bring the spirit of our vibrant shop to the online community at http://shop.monkeyforestroad.com. We have also recently begun serving top notch wine, beer, and gourmet small plates, Thursday through Saturday nights until 10 pm - so stop by and have a drink with us sometime!

Our EXTENDED CLOSEOUT SALE continues tomorrow!!!

Jewelry, furniture, ceramics, and more will be 20% - 50% off ... PLUS we will be selling goods from our cafe such as ceramic mugs & plates, wine glasses, platters, and beautiful tapas ware and food trays.

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce that Monkey Forest Road Gallery and Coffeebar
will be closing for good on January 1st.

It has been such a blessing to be a part of this community for the past several years and we have a mountain full of gratitude for all of you who have helped make this journey so bright ♡ Thanks for your amazing support, we could not have done it without you! We are excited to see what the future will bring and wish everyone the BEST YEAR EVER in 2014!!!
