The Friends of the Super Sabre started a GoFundMe account to raise money for the F-100 Super Sabre Memorial Exhibit at the MAPS Air Museum in North Canton, OH. We have already provided $10,000 to start the project and MAPS has refurbished a large room on the second floor of the museum for our exhibit. The GoFundMe account will raise the additional money needed to complete this noteworthy historical display and preserve the history of the F-100 for many generations to come.

The Friends of the Super Sabre Staff recently attended the Super Sabre Society reunion in Las Vegas. We provided a FSS logo gift bag with a new FSS brochure, Super Sabre Memorial Exhibit pen, newly designed F-100 pin and a donation form to all of the SSS attendees. We also had a display of with pictures of the MAPS Air Museum and computer showing the FSS web site.

While there, we held a board meeting to discuss future plans. We also amended the bylaws and elected Bettye Dunham and Ken Ramsay as Directors.

FSS members should watch for a newsletter in the mail with the latest information about the progress of the Friends of the Super Sabre and the Super Sabre Memorial Exhibit.

I just added a post to the FSS web site at http://friendsofthesupersabre.org/blog/ entitled "One More Time". This post has links to articles and videos published by the Aircraft Owners Pilots Association about the F-100 flying event at Ft. Wayne, IN in May. It brings back many memories of flying the Super Sabre.

Friends of the Super Sabre | Welcome to the Friends of the Super Sabre

I just completed our FSS project to update the list of F-100 static and museum displays around the world and post them on our web site http://friendsofthesupersabre.org/ under the Displays menu item.

I used Google Maps and marked every location of the 98 jets in the US, 33 in Europe and 15 in Taiwan. The menu structure follows:

United States Map

Northwest United States Map

North Center United States Map

Northeast United States Map

Southwest United States Map

South Center United States Map

Southeast United States Map

Europe Map

Taiwan Map

The US Map is a consolidation of all six regional maps.

There is a colored aircraft model legend at the top of the each map. Just below the legend there is a field where you can filter the list by aircraft model. Below and right of the map is a search field where you can enter any criteria you want to look for. This could be model, tail number, city, state, etc.

Below the map is a list of all aircraft displayed on the particular map. Clicking on the flag or any part of the list will zoom the map to the exact location and pop-up a window with information about the aircraft. This information includes the model, tail number and location. There may also be links to the National Museum of the USAF, additional pictures, history and museum web site.

When you switch from the map to satellite display and zoom in real close you will see the Hun on display or museum location if the jet is inside.

Hope you enjoy this new updated list of Huns around the world and share it with all of your friends.

p.s. If you have any additional pictures, I will be glad to add them to the web site.

Fellow Super Sabre Enthusiasts,

I don't know about you, but I hate seeing a Hun on display with no engine. Now, thanks to Bob Dunham's original plans and Ken Ramsay's embellishment, anyone with a little sheet metal skill can build a replica of the -21 afterburner eyelids. Check the new web site page under Resources --> AB Eyelids or clicking http://friendsofthesupersabre.org/resources/ab-eyelids/.

If there is an F-100 on display near you without an engine, please contact the caretakers and introduce them to the FSS web site and the information posted here.

Can someone give me the background story on the dayglo external fuel tanks? I'm assuming they were used in practice/training and were recovered for re-use --- but I don't think they were used on deployed a/c. Thoughts?? Our city is repainting our F-100F and the lady in charge wants the dayglo tanks - great eyecatcher but again I don't think used on deployed units.
