Newnan-Coweta Historical Society was pleased to host a visit by the boys of Wolf Den of Cub Scout Pack 2295 from Sharpsburg at the Historic Train Depot tonight. The group leader is Matt Novitzke. Ellen Corker of NCHS shared history about the Depot during the Civil War and the July 1864 Battle of Brown's Mill. The scouts and their parents then toured the exhibits, including the series of interpretive paintings by Newnan artist Martin Pate.
The Newnan-Coweta Historical Society offices at the McRitchie-Hollis Museum will close for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at 3 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The offices will remain closed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday - Nov. 22, 23 and 24. We will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 27. If you need information regarding rental of the Historic Train Depot, contact our Venues Manager Larisa Mitchell Scott at 678-416-3121. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

The annual Robert Burns Supper capped off a weekend celebration of Scottish Heritage hosted by Newnan-Coweta Historical Society along with the West Georgia Order of the Tartan, Newnan Cultural Arts Commission, Newnan Theatre Company and The Cellar restaurant.
