Marulanda Art

Marulanda Art Empowering women through art! To complete my holistic approach, I have created the Sensational Wonder Women coloring book.

I’m a portrait artist dedicated to empowering women through unique personalized portraits and facilitating emotional healing workshops and art-based programs for women grappling with feelings of frustration, stress, and longing for personal growth. What makes my portraits unique are the encouraging words woven into their flowing hair, serving as a constant reminder of their strength and resilience

. In addition, my workshops serve as a catalyst for self-discovery and self-exploration, allowing participants to delve into their emotions and find solace through creative expression. This book invites women to immerse themselves in their creativity and experience fulfillment and joy as they complete their masterpieces.

Do you ever stop to think about the dialogue you have with yourself?

In our next Cup and Color workshop, we’ll create a space for you to explore this through the meditative practice of coloring.

Have you been craving some “me-time” to unwind and do what you love?

I get it. It’s tough to prioritize yourself, especially in the hustle and bustle of life today.

It’s a challenge to disconnect, but...
…wouldn’t you agree that doing what you love makes you feel accomplished, happy, and lighter? 😃

That’s why I created a bi-weekly space for relaxation, personal growth, and joy.

I’m excited to share my unique approach to coloring, where participants learn, express, and release tension.

Last year, I created this piece around the powerful affirmation: “I am Worthy.”

It’s a reminder to myself, and hopefully to all who view it, that we are deserving of all the beautiful things life has to offer.

You will find in the hair: “ I’m loved. I am creative. I am divine.”
These are not just words on paper but words to remind us of our inherent value and potential.

How many of these affirmations resonate with you?

I just posted in my FB group about a coloring workshop I facilitated this past week and it was a privilege to do this for women who are cancer survivors or currently battling cancer.

As I listened to snippets of their stories, I couldn’t help but to have empathy and also admire their strength and determination to do what is best for them.

Moments like this make me be grateful for my health and the meaningful work I am to do.

I’m sharing this because it’s easy to overlook the gift of health. I know that in the past, I have taken it for granted, as many of us have.

This is why it’s crucial to prioritize our wellbeing.

That means embracing activities that nurture our minds and bodies. Whether it’s paying attention to what we are eating or doing more of what we love, and gives us joy.

So, if art is something you enjoy, I truly recommend you make time for it.

Science now confirms that engaging in art can significantly enhance our wellbeing. Just 20 minutes a day can make a positive impact as it serves as a way to release stress and be present in the moment.

Let’s remember that self-care isn’t selfish—it’s essential.
And if you want to experience a coloring workshop with me, you are welcome to join my “Cup and Color” events.

Twice per month, I’ll be hosting a free coloring workshop where women can:
• Pause from the stress of life.
• Tap into their creativity.
• And express desired emotions through coloring alongside others.

I recently rediscovered an art piece I created 8years ago. She doesn’t even have a title… yet.

It’s funny how sometimes we forget to share piece of our own journey, isn’t it?

This particular piece is special to me for several reason, and one is the quotes that resonated with my heart back then and they still do.

My intention is to always find ways to uplift myself and those around me.

Have you ever stumbled upon something from your past that still holds so much meaning? How did it make you feel?

I’m excited to share something special with you today!
You know, I’m all about empowering women to express themselves and envision a greater version of themselves.

Well, I had the absolute pleasure of joining Diana Nguyen on her podcast, Madison / Savile Inspired, a podcast where she empowers women by shining a light on the beauty of individuality, sharing stories, advice, and tips that uplift and inspire women.

Plus, Diana is a trailblazer who celebrates women through her uniquely crafted blazers. These beautiful blazers are symbols of empowerment, encouraging women everywhere to step into their power and own their uniqueness. You have to see them to confirm it.

We got to talk about art, and its transformative power on each of us.

I invite you to listen. You can go to her website at... https://madisonsavile.com/pages/podcast.

You can also find the conversation on Spotify, iTunes, and iHeart under Madison /Savile Inspired.

“Her art is pretty, but it’s not Pop Art.”

This is what a gallerist told a friend who shared my work.

I never considered my work pop art, but I even though I thought what “Pop Art” meant, I wasn’t sure what it really means, so I Googled it. 😁

It turns out pop art isn’t just about bright colors. It was “born in Britain during the mid-to late-1950s and presented a challenge to traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular and mass culture, such as advertising, comic books, and mundane mass-produced objects.”

Even though it was midnight and I needed to sleep, I couldn’t resist the temptation to find out what my art style was.

To my amazement, I discovered that there are more than 75 types of painting styles.

And too my dismay, I didn’t find an exciting or cool style name for this specific style of mine. So, I’ll continue to call them: “Vibrant Wonder Women.” 🥰

What do you think?

Title: “If I don’t love myself, who will?”

I pondered on this question when I realized that lack of self-love was the root of my low self-esteem and unhappiness.

Confronting this realization wasn’t easy; it took digging into my emotions, being willing to look within, and seeking guidance from a coach. But its impact was such that I had to express it through my art.

This artwork became the reminder that I am responsible for my own happiness and that true fulfillment begins with self-love.

Sadly, countless women face similar challenges.

The good news is that we can learn to love ourselves.

On this Saint Valentine’s Day, I invite you to gift yourself the most precious present of all: love.

It can be as simple as writing yourself a love letter or treating yourself to a rose to show appreciation for who you are and what you do. Or it can be as simple as looking at yourself in the mirror and saying, “I love you.”

And, if you already love yourself, I would love to hear about your practices so others can be inspired by you.

“To fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness.” —Robert Morely

We can’t judge a book by its cover, right?

I had a conversation with a participant in my workshop who told me, “I just want to feel centered.”

It surprised me since her upbeat and energetic vibe caused me to misread her. Thinking that she was okay inside.

I’m sharing this because we never know what is in someone’s heart until we open up to talk about it. They might seem okay but feel emotionally drained inside, yearning for a place of serenity.

This is why I love providing a space to be creative and also to connect to our feelings.
Art is colorful, bright, fun, and also a powerful tool to find inner peace and to reenvision a healthier relationship with ourselves when used intentionally.

My purpose is to use this wonderful gift to guide women to look within, explore, envision, and create a better future for themselves.

So, what’s your way of finding that centeredness and control? I would love your input 💕

Navigating through life often brings unexpected turns, right?

It might leave us with feelings of anger, sadness, and a sense of disconnection from our true selves.

What most of us don’t realize is that these feelings stem from the beliefs about ourselves and lack of self-awareness, and they can rob us of our joy.

In the past, I wanted to feel better but didn’t know how or where to start.

This is why I invite women to my transformative 7-week art-based program, “Uncover The Goddess Within Future Self-Portrait.” It’s perfect for those women yearning to feel more in control, centered, or simply happier in their own skin.

This is the perfect opportunity to claim your “me time,” learn, cultivate self-awareness, and have a space to look within and paint your ideal self.

The program starts February 7th, so if you are feeling stuck in certain feelings or lost and looking for fulfillment, come and join a group of women prepared make time for themselves and step into a space of self-love and self-care.

On Monday, I’m hosting my coloring workshop, and as always, I get nervous, but hey, let’s call it excitement.

Yes, excited because every time I host these workshops, I connect with wonderful women like you, and I become clearer on how to serve you.

One thing I’ve come to realize is that most women just want a space to connect to their heart, to that inner child who loves to be creative, to feel at home.

That’s the beauty of art. If done intentionally, it becomes a place for expression, self-reflection, and envisioning. It’s like soul food for growth and inspiration.

So, if you’ve been yearning for a creative boost, a place to find inner peace or a place to release frustrations, come and join us.

You won’t believe what happens when we give ourselves permission to be curious and explore our creativity through art.

If you are ready to explore you and your emotions, join us.

I like to celebrate a woman who is no longer with us, and that is my mamita (Grandmother).

As I think of her, I’m reminded of the wisdom she shared with us. She was big on taking care of herself and eating healthy (I believe this is why I love vegetables), and she always found joy in the little things.

Even though I’ve been pouring my heart into preparations for my upcoming coloring workshop.
I want to make sure I honor this woman who was full of expression and gave me the beautiful family I have.

Feliz cumpleaños, mamita linda!

Stay tuned for more details on the workshop. A place to look within and express yourself through color.

How are you pursuing your dreams this year?

Resolutions and vision boards have been part of my approach, but more often than not, they have not worked so well. I’ve come to realize that it wasn’t so much about resolutions as it was about making a shift within myself to achieve my dreams.

You see, Dr. Maxwell Maltz emphasized in his book Psycho-Cybernetics, “To change your life, you must first change the way you see yourself.”

Looking back, I recognize that art was my conduit to explore who I am and connect to my emotions so I can better understand what they are telling me.

This is why I’m passionate about using art and coloring as a tool for women to explore and envision how they want to truly feel, and because of that…

…on Jan 22nd, I will host my next 3-day coloring workshop, “Color Your Way To Feeling Divine.”

Each day, we’ll come together for one hour to explore, express, and connect to our feelings so you can understand more of yourself and be able to make those necessary shifts to achieve your dreams.

P.S. The picture below is one of my first illustrations where unknowingly I was using art to explore my values. 💕💕💕

Have you ever had a dream that seems too far to achieve?

About 12 years ago, I confided in my then-boyfriend about my desire to pursue art, but it was just a dream. Nothing more. I was caught up in the hustle of work with no room for dreams and was too busy with who knows what.

It wasn’t until I found myself down to my knees, heart shattered, feeling lost and abandoned, that I finally began to follow my dream.

Yet, it wasn’t as simple as just “ok, let me focus on my dream now.” No, it was more like art came to me. One night, I had a deep urge to draw and color, and I did just that. The rest is history.

As I celebrate another year of life, I can’t help but reflect on the stormy path that brought me here. For those who know me well, you know this journey has been far from easy—filled with doubts, moments of uncertainty, tears, and questioning whether what I’m doing is truly worth pursuing.

But, as the saying goes, if it were easy, everyone would do it, right?

I have to constantly remind myself that this is my path, it’s what I love, and “Yes, I’m willing to continue on this path.”

There is so much more to be done, and as I gain awareness and experience of it, I’ll keep sharing and growing along with you.

Thank you.

Thank you for your birthday wishes and to all who are part of this meaningful chapter in my life. I am deeply appreciative of each of you!

Reconnecting with my roots and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

I was born in Colombia and came to the USA at age 10. Like many immigrants who arrived as children, I’ve gradually drifted away from my cultural heritage.

However, I’ve been having the itch to reconnect and here is one way I’m doing it.

The earring in the video was inspired by my visit to Museo de Oro in Bogota, Colombia, a few years ago.

Have you ever heard of El Museo del Oro? It’s an extraordinary place, a world-class facility boasting a breathtaking array of gold artifacts. In fact, it’s home to the largest gold collection in the world, with a staggering 34,000 individual pieces.

What’s truly fascinating to me is that many of these items weren’t merely ornamental; they held deep spiritual meanings for the indigenous peoples, such as the Muisca and Tayrona. Gold played a crucial role in their daily lives and sacred rituals.

The pre-Columbian culture of my homeland holds a wealth of history and wisdom, and I’m excited to explore it.

How do you stay connected to your culture if you are an immigrant?🎨🌟

——————————

How many of you have tried using eye shadow to color your pages? I haven’t tried it yet, but I see many of you create beautiful works with it.

Even though I’m intrigued, for now, I’m sticking with soft pastels and colored pencils.

Sometimes, I use the soft pastel directly on the paper, but I have to be extra careful with it.

Other times, I use a cotton ball to apply the color. I like this technique better since I apply it lightly, and then I can layer it with colored pencils.

What is your process if you use eye shadow on your coloring page? I’d love to hear.

By the way, I wanted to remind you that I am hosting a giveaway at the end of the month! 🎁 Head over to the pinned post at the top of my page to learn how you can enter to win my “Sensational Wonder Women” coloring book. I can assure you, you’ll love it!

09/13/2023

What’s your favorite coloring tool? Colored pencils, alcohol markers, soft pastels, or something entirely different?
When I launched my coloring book “Sensational Wonder Women,” I engaged in coloring more and started following coloring page FB groups. I was amazed by the many ‘tools’ to color with. It’s incredible also to see how it can transform a coloring page.

One of my favorites is the watercolor pencils. They are perfect for backgrounds or big areas. Plus, I love experimenting with different coloring tools and learning new techniques.

So, I’d love to hear from you: What is your favorite coloring tool? Share any preferences or tips.

By the way, if you haven’t heard yet, I’m hosting a fantastic giveaway! 🎁 Head over to the pinned post at the top of my page to learn how you can enter and have a chance to win this beautiful coloring book. Don’t miss out on the fun.
