Shoutout to Arsenio Hall for your contributions to Hip Hop 🙏🏾.

“The Arsenio Hall Show” from 1989-1994 created a late night talk show platform for people to be unapologetically black and to showcase their talent. Arsenio had acts like Will Smith, Snoop Dogg, MC Lyte, A Tribe Called Quest and many more. Arsenio’s lively personality made his guests feel comfortable enough to share their personal stories. He used his platform to address issues in the urban community such as gang violence, the stigma of HIV, police brutality amongst other topics.

RIP to David Jude Jolicoeur professionally known as "Trugoy, the Dove" of the legendary Hip Hop trio, De La Soul.

De La Soul’s arrival on the rap scene was filled with eclectic sounds, messages of positivity and Black consciousness. Known for their unconventional fashion sense compared to their peers Run-DMC and LL Cool J. Never afraid to be himself, Trugoy was a talented MC who was original and versatile, capable of rapping in many styles. His creative artistry as a lyricist influenced other artists to express their inner most thoughts via their verses lyrically.

The UHHM would like to send our condolences to Trugoy’s family and to all who are affected by his loss.

The iconic DJ Clark Kent visited the [R]Evolution of Hip Hop and showed us some love.

Clark Kent is an amazing record producer hailing from Brooklyn who has worked with Biggie Smalls, Lil Kim, 50 Cent, Slick Rick, Rakim and many more. In the early 90’s Clark Kent hosted the “New Music Seminar”, a battle between the best DJs in Hip Hop. Anyone remember the iconic battle between DJ Noize and DJ 8-Ball? If so, post comments below Hip Hop heads.

If you visit NYC and take a subway ride, there's a very good chance that you'll see an amazing impromptu performance.

Shoutout to for this dope video 🔥.

In 2018, rap artist Logic, Alessia Cara and Khalid performed his critically acclaimed song, "1-800-273-8255" during the 60th annual Grammy Awards show. This song's title also happens to be the actual phone number to the National Su***de Prevention Hotline. Their amazing performance resulted in significantly increased calls to the hotline and saving lives of viewers here in the U.S. and abroad. It expressed the power of asking for help in an emotional crisis.

This moment illustrates how Hip Hop culture unifies us and can guide us to a better day when we simply ask for help.

Thank you Logic, Alessia, and Khalid for this empowering song 🙏🏾.

If you are in need of assistance, please use the hotline or visit your local hospital to find resources.

Shoutout to the Hip Hop duo Kris Kross for their contributions to the culture 🙏🏾.

Hip Hop duo Kris Kross, Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith were discovered and signed by Jermaine Dupri after he saw them at an Atlanta mall in 1991. With their clear chemistry and magnetic cool, Jermaine was convinced that Kris Kross would be hitmakers. In 1992 the duo released their debut album "Totally Crossed Out," featuring the Billboard Top 100 hit single "Jump." Their debut single shot to number #1 on the charts for 8 straight weeks. And it was certified as a double platinum single by the RIAA. Today, Kris Kross remains among the youngest Hip Hop acts to achieve superstar status with each of their albums going either gold or platinum.

At a time when rap music was decidedly adult and hardcore, their playful signature look of clothes worn backward and cool hoodies, made every kid want to be them.

Kris Kross' success paved the way for other child rappers such as Bow Wow, Lil Romeo and Nickelodeon's live action "That Girl Lay Lay" TV series featuring teen rapper Alaya High."

RIP Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly 🌹
