Tourné Gallery is pleased to share two recent features on Cristina Vergano. An in-depth interview with the artist, titled “A Strange and Beautiful World,” appeared in Tidings of Magpies magazine with images of dozens of her works, as well as an installation shot of 17 of her signature “eye” paintings. A spread on Vergano’s work also appeared in Robin Cofer’s Art Selection in the most recent edition of Art Bodega.

“Twelve Blues” by Madalena Negrone is a signature work from the artist’s June 2023 solo exhibition at the Museum of Art and Science in Milan, Italy. As its title implies, twelve different shades of blue were utilized in the creation of the painting which, at two meters tall by two meters wide, represents the artist’s largest scale oil on canvas to date.

In it, the visualization of Negrone’s ideas – inspired by quantum physics – become larger and more all-encompassing. The forms, representing the interconnectedness of all the universe’s matter and energy, seem to extend beyond the confines of the canvas, drawing the viewer into an exploration of the endless shapes, colors, and movements that surround and inhabit us.

The intricacy of the subject matter, especially at this scale, compels the viewer toward a deeper reflection, as the meaning behind the work – and our own role within it – is not immediately apparent.

Art critic Andrea Pompili, after viewing the exhibition at the Museum of Art and Science, wrote, “[Negrone’s] 'now,' her 'here and now' transmutes into obsessive hypnotic gestures where every sense becomes lost in 'anti-time'… Physical gravity does not intervene here: the spatial trajectories are inferred in the silence and suspension of these evocative paintings, often monochrome, where each of us can feel ourselves as interconnected threads."

Negrone’s paintings are created entirely by hand with no digital intervention, tracing, or templates of any kind. The artist’s newest works are branded with a steadfast declaration: “HUMAN MADE - NO ROBOTS OR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INVOLVED.”

Visit us this week in Tribeca to view Twelve Blues during the artist’s solo exhibition, on view through May 29.

Tourné Gallery is pleased to welcome to our roster of artists.

Alejandro Rauhut is a Colombian artist whose multimedia works challenge the viewer to question their own existence and explore their own inner journey.

By incorporating materials such as mirror, glass, acrylic, and light, and experimenting with shadow, reflection, and projections, Rauhut brings his ideas to life, transcending the contemplative and immersing the viewer and the surrounding environment in his work.

Schedule a viewing of his works at our current exhibition in Tribeca.
