This Valentine’s Day means more than ever right now. It is about true love. Love that looks like whatever love looks like to the ones who are feeling it. Feel it. Feel this love that is not judged. Love that is free. Love that is kind. Love that is open. This description of love sounds accidentally, unintentionally, religious. But it is actually spiritual. There’s a difference. It is more important than anything else. It’s is why our hearts beat. It is why we create. It is what makes us human. And isn’t that the point? Here we are, overcoming a hostile attack on love and freedoms and rights. We will not allow it. We continue to believe in the power of true, real, unbiased, genuine and open love. Long may it last and F off to the ones trying to stifle it.

🥂Cheers to 9 years!🥂

My most sincere thanks to the artists, collectors, supporters, colleagues & friends who have made the last 9 years in business possible. The last year has been the hardest yet, but we are steadfast in our belief that art is an absolute necessity in life, even through the most difficult times.

The magnificent portals of escapism, passion and free expression we have the privilege of bringing into your lives add more value to our world than we could ever put a number on.

As you can imagine, living artists today face increasingly difficult hurdles with rising material costs, access to affordable studio space and concerns over the protection of their intellectual property in this new era of AI. But they carry on, baring their souls via their chosen media, because they must and thank goodness they do.

Our world is richer thanks to them. They deserve our lasting support. Thank you to anyone and everyone who has and continues to collect the work of living artists. It makes a real difference in their lives.

Onward!
Jenn

Miriam Cabessa (born 1966, Morocco) is an Israeli-American painter, performance and installation artist, winner of the 2022 Israeli Ministry of Culture Lifetime Achievement Award.

Her work is held in the collections of The British Museum, the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC and the Israel Museum, among others.

Cabessa was born in Morocco, raised in Israel and maintains studios in New York City and Tel Aviv. Her slow action painting has been internationally recognized since 1997 when she represented Israel at the Venice Biennale.

Over the past two decades, she has abstained from using brushes, opting to make marks with objects and her body. Her imagery ranges from organic to mechanistic with surfaces that are both haptically handmade and digitally serene.

Miriam Cabessa’s work has been shown extensively in the U.S., Europe, and Israel and is held in international private and public collections.

“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.” – Pablo Picasso

Reflecting on Picasso’s words, the more I look at the work in River Deep, Mountain High by Anne Austin Pearce, the more I feel the wash of profound calm and rejuvenation that art can provide. It’s as if each mark made by the artist clears away the noise of the everyday chaos that chases us, gifting us with stolen moments of pure contemplation and serenity.
