KLOMPCHING GALLERY

KLOMPCHING GALLERY KLOMPCHING GALLERY is the premier destination for contemporary fine art photography in Brooklyn, New York City.

The KLOMPCHING GALLERY was established in DUMBO, Brooklyn in September 2007. Owned and operated by Debra Klomp Ching and Darren Ching, the gallery quickly established itself as a gallery with an extraordinary roster of artists from which to purchase some of the best examples of contemporary photography—with exhibition reviews in publications such as The New Yorker, Art Review, Modern Painters, New

York magazine and the Wall Street Journal, as well as numerous notable cultural websites. KLOMPCHING GALLERY was accepted into AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers) in 2012, and resigned that membership in 2017. Since its inception, KLOMPCHING GALLERY has earned a solid reputation for providing informed guidance on the acquisition of contemporary fine art photography. In May 2015, the gallery relocated to a custom-renovated street-level space, at 89 Water Street.

“These images are a response—part intuitive, part deliberate—to a time in my life when the scaffolding of my life seemed to disappear. I had assumed that the same woman would reemerge on the other side of motherhood, but the Rachel I’d been before parenthood was irrelevant and gone. Making the Hair Portraits series, inspired by the Victorian practice of creating memento mori from hair, helped me both honor and say goodbye to past parts of myself. My models became conduits of self-reflection as I observed a post-maternal strength wholly new and different from the role I previously inhabited”.—Rachel Portesi

$4,000 USD

This is a stunning seascape photograph by Lisa M. Robinson, from the ‘Oceana’ series.

With Oceana, the artist pursues her investigation into ideas of transition and evolution, representing this through a careful consideration of photography’s key elements and the representation of what she calls the “rhythms of natural time”. A key development in her artistic practice at this time, was a conceptual and visual shift from representing the subtle human presence of others, to imposing her own presence into the landscape, albeit metaphorically.

The resulting photographs exude an ephemeral quality that maintains mystery, are exquisitely rendered and impose both a visceral and physical relationship with the viewer.
