Exhibition radically challenges most people’s ideas of the birth of Impressionism

A fascinating exhibition. Artistic movements are born from as many sources as the artists that lead them. And it would be such a treat to see so much early Pissarro alongside Melbye's luminous paintings!

Is there a link between Danish Golden Age painting and French Impressionism? On the occasion of the centenary of the sale of the Danish West Indies,

Museum of Montmartre and Renoir Gardens - Paris

Another gem of a museum in Paris: the Musée de Montemartre and Studio Apartment at 12 rue Cortot in Montemartre. Suzanne Valadon, famously regarded as one of the first women painters of her generation, initially settled at 12 Cortot in 1898. She later returned in 1912, where she remained until 1926 with her son Maurice Utrillo and her partner André Utter. With respect to Utrillo’s work at the studio, he left behind unforgettable views of Montmartre. Take a look at the museum here : http://www.museedemontmartre.fr/museum-gardens and at our wonderful work by Suzanne Valadon: https://www.schillerandbodo.com/inventory/nature-morte-290071

Founded in 1960, the Museum of Montmartre recounts the history of Montmartre, its art studios and animated cabarets. During its heyday, 12 rue Cortot served as a residence and meeting place for many artists including Auguste Renoir and Suzanne Valadon.

There is a particularly strong representation of Impressionist portraits by Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Berthe Morisot.
