We shared a table at the Brooklyn Book Fair on Sunday, September 16, with Poets Wear Prada of Hoboken. We sold a PHILIPPE and an UNDER THE ESCALATOR -- and chatted with many "fans." It was awfully hot -- but a terrific experience. Bryan Canniff's cover for UTE really attracted attention. Thanks again to Roxanne and to master salesman George!

Feeling Sheepish

Author Joan Dupont attended an event at McNally Jackson Books in New York City on September 9. The event was for her picture book, Philippe the Black Sheep (Filsinger & Co.), about a lamb who works in a kitchen under the watchful eye of a cruel chef, and who dreams of becoming a painter. Dupont (seated) signed books for readers, who also took part in Philippe-themed activities at an art table, including creating menus for imaginary restaurants.

How could we forget the gorgeous East Hampton Library, where we read from Philippe on Monday, September 18. It was mostly Adult Children as the kids seemed glued to the Library's computer screens. Shelter Island artist Roz Dimon shared a moment with our art director Bryan Canniff, who then joined the rest of the team -- Ellen Shire, illustrator; Joan Dupont, author; and Sag Harborite George Held, editor -- in a dramatic
reading from the book.

PHILIPPE The Black Sheep: We had a great reading at Book Culture on Columbus on May 20. Author Joan Dupont narrated and sixth-grader Sarah Tabak read the roles of Philippe and Chef Louis, with selected passages in French. Columbia U. professor Richard Pena, film publicist Sophie Gluck, and our editor George Held attended, among the tots, grade schoolers, and their parents. Run to Book Culture if you're in the neighborhood near Columbus and W. 81st streets -- a charming bookshop, and they still have a few Philippes left!
