The New York Public Library Announces the Top 10 Checked-Out Books of All Time

Penny Arcade Herself, Celebrating her Village Preservation Oral History

Monday, January 6, 7:00pm
The Duplex, 61 Christopher Street
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Since first climbing out of her bedroom window at age 14 to join the fabulously disenfranchised world of downtown queers, junkies, whores, stars, deviants and geniuses, Penny Arcade has become one of New York’s most influential performers. By fearlessly displaying her singular brand of feminist sexuality and storytelling she has garnered countless fans worldwide with an emotionally and intellectually charged performance style. Internationally revered as a writer, director, and actress, she has influenced generations of artists.
In Penny’s Village Preservation oral history, she said, “My work has always encompassed oral history from the first moment—makes sense—I’m from an oral tradition of southern Italian storytelling, where every problem is described by being told about another problem that was similar to it that had happened once before. And that’s how I made my work.” Join us for an evening celebrating this oral history and Penny’s work.

This event is not accessible.
