African Banjo Arts, Inc Raising cultural awareness and igniting exchange to alleviate poverty Among that ethnic group is our ABA Founder/CEO Essau P.

The African Banjo Arts (ABA) was found in July/1985 by Essau Simbilo Pwelle an African Banjoist, Songwriter, Singer, Dancer, and Historian who found also The African Banjo Village Band (ABVB)with his cousins on the idea of being villagers, and visitors entertainment group in the remote areas of Namangoni and Yenzebwe Village, Ileje District, Mbeya region, Tanzania- West Highlands. Since our establ

ishment we have been working hard to continue restoring, preserving, documenting the African Banjo musical instruments; arts, drums, dancing styles, recordings, stories, facts, photographs, drawings, paintings, audios, and much more in order for generation to come to inherit from us as we did inherit from our Ancestors. The African Banjo Origin:
The African Banjo originated from Africa as a 3-4 stringed musical instrument dominated mostly by the "BANTU" (Bantu-means people)ethnic group which comprise 68% of the African Continent's population. Pwelle from "Wandali" tribe of the Southwest Highlands of Tanzania bordering Malawi from the South-West and Zambia from the Northwest of Tanzania.
