The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies

The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies All the history you knew but forgot, and all the booze you need to forget it again!
The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies was founded in 2011 by Larissa Hayden and Anna Rasche, two lovely ladies with a shared passion for history, hosting events, and drinking like champs. Over the past eight years, they’ve sought to create an inviting environment for adults to come and learn the history they feel like they should know about, but don’t yet.

The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies (SASS) is proud to present a series of lectures designed to both entertain and enlighten. At each meeting, we will discuss a different historical topic that you probably knew at one point but don’t remember anymore. This will be accompanied by fun games, surprise guests, and most importantly, adult beverages, which everyone knows is the best way to ensure maximum knowledge gained.

“Marry or don't marry, you will regret it either way,” Soren Kierkegaard once wrote pseudonymously. Was he right? Why do people marry? Should they? In marriage, people promise ‘till death do them part, but can marriage make love stay? Or is it actually the fastest way to cure lovers? Is marria...
