Arata Isozaki's Palladium Nighclub Through the Lens of Timothy Hursley

The Palladium, a nightclub that opened in 1985, was Isozaki’s first completed project in the US (MOCA Los Angeles opened the following year).

A vibrant and luminous independent structure arranged inside a rather classic shell, which appears as a beautiful backdrop behind the clean geometry of Isozaki.

Jaquelin Taylor Robertson, Architect and Passionate Urbanist, Dies at 88

Jaque was both impressive and utterly charming. I count myself lucky to have known him. When I was working for Arata Isozaki in the 1990’s, Jaque collaborated with us on an unbuilt university campus near Washington DC.

Devoted to classical architecture, he was equally committed to design that benefits city life and helped establish a New York agency to promote it.

Pierre Cardin exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, on the top floor of the West Wing Galleries. I worked on the renovation of these galleries in the late 1980’s with the architecture team of Arata Isozaki and James Polshek. Transforming a Masterpiece: The Bass Museum of Art

David Gauld was the principal architect of The Bass Museum of Art
renovation in 2017, and along with Arata Isozaki as a design consultant they transformed a 100 year old masterpiece to fit the needs of its visitors and have a modern look.

Watch the story of this amazing project in David Gauld’s conference when he visited the faculty in May of last year.

I’m heading back to Paris tonight for a project that is restarting after a hiatus. I arrived early to JFK to see the new TWA hotel. I was thrilled to meet one of my favorite comedians, Pam Ann, on the roof pool deck. With all the 1960’s aviation nostalgia at the hotel, it was almost too perfect to encounter Pam Ann, whose act mines that very period to hysterical effect. #pamann #twahotel #davidgauldarchitect @ TWA Hotel
