Joan Sherman Arts Joan Sherman Arts I see my work as a dialogue between art and design. Tables, made of branches, cast in bronze, contrast organic and architectural form.

I continually reinvent the skills and materials I learned as an artist in order to embrace functionality. The structure this requires acts as an organizing force and the interaction between object and user humanizes the process. Lighting, in bronze or in woven wood, uses light and shadow to create the atmosphere of a forest. Objets D’Art, use hand-blown glass to add an element of color to the bron

ze that holds them. Textile art, employs dyes to hand-paint one-off fabric, and scans of original artwork for limited editions. Encaustic panels, made of beeswax and resin give off a soft glow that changes with the shifting colors of daylight. Made in small editions, or as unique objects, my work is uniquely well-suited to commissions. I enjoy collaborating with architects, interior designers and collectors to create work that responds the unique atmosphere of their environment.
