[Eng/Kor]
CALL FOR ARTISTS:
The current state of the world is seeing a monumental skew towards fascist beliefs based around a common identity and is used to suppress those lying outside of it.
The othering and policing of historically oppressed and powerless groups along axis of race, class, beliefs, sex, nationality, gender, sexuality, and disability echoes in every act of violence one person chooses to enact on another, which creates a complicated geography of oppression where displaced groups may even be at odds with one another despite sharing a similar shape of oppression.
As Korea becomes an increasingly multicultural country and larger voice on the global stage, it is ever more imperative to consider how Korea can respond to these issues in a way that promotes solidarity among the people who call this country their home.
Crazy Multiply would like to provide a platform to elevate and support the diverse voices within Korea through a fundraising exhibition we are calling “Hyphen-Nation”. We are looking for visual and performance artists who are part of the multicultural communities that inhabit Korea, and whose work focuses on their experience regarding their unique communities/identities here.
This includes : BIPOC, migrant/immigrant/refugees, religious minorities, LGBTQ+, disabled (physical/mental), biracial/multiracial, and other underrepresented groups within Korea.
All mediums accepted.

Inspired by animals and the world around them, here is the work of Nathan Cole Scratchboard / Painting / Photography!
Website: artworkarchive.com/profile/nathan-cole
Scratchboard, by its very construction and purpose, is a very fragile medium - you create by taking away and any missed stroke could ruin what you have created so far. Humanity and its relation to nature is quite similar. Humans create their society by taking away, cutting down and stripping the resources to create their cities and culture. Their impact on the wildlife and habitats around them is deeply affected by this process, but also in how they build their culture, the stories told and myths created. The perception of particular animals due to their place in history can very well determine their livelihood.
Are the animals viewed as a threat to humans, are they treasured for their fur or meat, do they have mythic properties on the black market, or are they perceived as a pest to be rid of? Does your pet have more inherent value than a wild creature? Creating expressive animal portraits with scratchboard creates a tenuous relationship between viewer and creature, where historical and cultural perceptions can deeply affect how they see the animal in front of them. The painstaking and slow process of creating the art is echoed by the careful approach that must be taken for examining some of the myths and perceptions of these animals and how that may affect conservation efforts. In this way I hope that by creating art, I can improve the relationships of humans and the cities they live in to the wildlife surrounding them.

Our country has lost a legal giant and trailblazer in Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. A daughter of Brooklyn, Justice Ginsburg spent her life advocating tirelessly for the rights of the vulnerable and marginalized in our society, including women, seniors, and the LGBTQ+ community. Tomorrow, at 1:00 pm, we will be rallying outside of the Brooklyn Municipal Building, at 210 Joralemon Street, to honor her life and her life’s work. Please share this invitation far and wide and gather with us to remember the legacy of Justice Ginsburg and the impact it has had on our society, while we commit to redoubling our efforts to foster equality and justice for all.

The BK Seoul Global Project
We are Brooklyn Seoul Collective, a couple of art and human lovers! We aim to bridge the gap between nations and people alike. No matter the divide, no matter the conflict of interest, we believe there is no connection that can’t be forged through combined creative expression and feeling. The Brooklyn Seoul Project is a reflection of our founder and the experiences he relished in while traveling Southeast Asia and teaching ESL for 6 years in Seoul, Korea. Our goal is to create a platform and foster events that promote exchange between visual artists from South East Asia and an opportunity to study abroad in Brooklyn and the same for Brooklyn based artists. We will highlight the impact and impressions both Brooklyn and Seoul’s art, fashion and music industries have left on society while tackling and discussing the issues that women as artists face daily.
