AMERICAN IDOLATRY kicks off with RITE OF INITIATION Saturday, October 29th. Launch party will feature Performances by Rance Palmer and Danielle Abrams, Music by DJ collective WOAHMONE and Beer by Brooklyn Brewery. Throughout the week, the public will be invited to view artworks... and performances, and partake in evening events. Join us for public programming produced by a diverse team of up-and-coming artists, academics, and creatives. TALKIN' TO YOU IS LIKE DROPPIN' A DIME: A DISCURSIVE WALKTHROUGH Wednesday November 2, 7-9 pm (Public) Join us for a discussion with the artists of American Idolatry, introduced by A.I. curator Legacy Russell and led by conceptual artist Steve I.D. (Stephen Wuensch) and Chelsea Haines, independent curator and Public Programs Manager at Independent Curators International. BAD FEMINIST READINGS Thursday November 3, 7-9 pm (Public) The Bad Feminist Readings, led by Sarah Gentile and Sarah Giovanniello, is a feminist reading of not-so-feminist titles from our personal paperback collections, bibles of pulp zeitgeist. DANCEHALL QUEEN / LAST RITES Saturday November 5, 7 pm to 12 am (Public) Artist Madeleine Hunt-Ehrlich and A.I. curator Legacy Russell invite you for a screening of the 1997 classic Dancehall Queen, Rick Elgood and Don Letts portrayal of the ascent of one Dancehall Queen Marcia (played by Audrey Reid). Residing in New York City, Legacy has worked at The Bruce High Quality Foundation, the Brooklyn Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art; in 2010 she was granted a six-month Curatorial Fellowship with CREATIVE TIME. Legacy is the co-founder of online journal and project space ContactProject.net (CONTACT) and was recently appointed as Art Editor of BOMB magazine’s renowned online journal, BOMBlog.

Ariane Michel wants you to pay attention. In a work that premiered in New York on Monday evening at Van Cortlandt Park—aptly dubbed The ScreeningMichel held up a mirror to film attendees by showing them a likeness of themselves on the silver screen.

Just a few hours till our Artist Welcome Party at Culturefix, and we discover they are getting a tap system installed! Yet another reason to join us tonight from 6-9pm.

Tomorrow comes our tap system. Janky, temporary- will be delicious. $3 belgian style pale ales, a specialty brew from Souther Tier Brewery, starts tomorrow. Sixpoint's Brownstone will also be available on draft.
