Erik Spague of Austin, Texas, has had his entire body tattooed with green scales. In addition, he has had surgical Teflon implants put into his forehead, and has had his tongue split in two, all part of his gradual transformation into the world's only "Lizard Man". Starting in the late 1990's Erik has spent over 700 hours having his body tattooed green, based on a design of his own creation. When he sat for the casting of his wax figure in the fall of 2010 his transformation was over 90% complete. When asked what he plans to do when he is 100% green, Erik says he is contemplating having a tail grafted onto his spine. #Believeitornot
Realizing that paper is just soft wood, artist Alex Queral discovered he could carve paper to create life-like portraits, provided the paper was thick enough. Telephone books, averaging 3"-5" in depth, soon became his medium of choice. Shown here is iconic rock star, 16-time Grammy award winner, Sting as seen in his 1970s Police days.
Huge and sturdy, ostrich eggs are great for carving- but they are also so thick that chicks can't hatch without the help of their parents. From the far reaches of Tibet, this traditional skull bowl- known as a kapala- was used to make offerings to the deities of the mountains. Kapalas were decorated with silver and semiprecious stones.
