With 40 artist interviews in one book I decided there was no way I could choose just one image of theirs for the cover, so I decided to make one myself. Get the first ArtKill Catskill book on the Barnes and Noble website. It contains five years of interviews from the first 10 issues. I think it’s a lovely collection of local artists.

Even though we didn’t get an actual prize, I’m told we placed second in the Trout Parade float contest! fabrikatrin spearheaded the clown head in the front of the truck, helped me rig up a baguette to my microphone, and used her amazing skills to make our flowers sq**rt water with the press of a foot pedal. Don hooked up all the electrical components and got our sound system rocking. I created the flowers, the signage, and made the trout prints for the bunting. Open For Suggestions is always a collaboration and always a ton of fun! Thanks to Catherine and Joanna for getting us down Main Street! I’m going to have “Clowning Around” stuck in my head until next year’s parade!

First prize in the Trout Parade float contest! My good pal fabrikatrin made the flipping mechanism. I built the trout out of two tomato cages, some leftover sequins and felt, and seltzer cans. She made the amazing fins from aluminum sheets and got the whole thing put together. The ring of fire was made from a discarded hula hoop and felt scraps. We did our best to use as many repurposed items as possible. Once we were done, the Livingston Manor Chamber float committee added the final touches to make it an award winner. What a fun project!
