David Eildon Pringle is a native New Yorker, born and bred in the NYC of the 80’s and the 90’s. Actor, bartender, press agent, go-go boy, etc., he’s relatively new to the world of contemporary art, and he’s a Survivor. As an Intrepid Survivor, he is constantly in search of beauty—high, low, and everything in between.
He has survived 5 sordid years as an actor in L.A., and over 3 years on The Guiding Light, where his character was gainfully employed at the country club(“I’m not a waiter in real life, but I play one on TV”), which supported his penchant for underpaid-though wonderful, interesting-work in the theatre.
After the acting bug slowly left him right around the time of Covid, he searched for a new way to express his creativity-and preserve his sanity-and began this wide-ranging style he calls Zentangled. Originally, he used the idea to create highly involved needlepoints that took forever they were so intricate, but he eventually began drawing them. Which allowed it be almost free form, immediate, planned impetuousness.
They’re called Zentangled due to their clear homage to that ancient form of “doodling”…zentangling, following the line wherever it might go, not thinking about it. Letting your mind wander. Ergo, ZEN-tangle.
They’re the way he meditates, surrounded by colors and beauty, following the lines while creating new ones, allowing his mind to wander and cogitate in safety.
The words and acronyms are even newer to his work, and he finds it exciting. The way we have gut reactions to the everyday aphorisms we all use. The simplified colloquialisms we immediately recognize..how hidden is too hidden? How obvious is too obvious?

Now for sale, one of 14 select pieces in your choice of golden frame. Artwork is 41”x30”. $850-$1100 depending on choice of frame. Acrylic ink/watercolor/gauche. [email protected] for more info. Cheers!
