Join us every 1st Thursday of each month for exhibit openings and the DUMBO gallery walk. in a variety of media. The gallery is located among among several other galleries in the creative neighborhood of DUMBO, Brooklyn. Madarts is a 14,000 square foot arts facility on two floors of a former Renault factory/home furnishings warehouse in the community between Park Slope and Sunset Park that we affe

ctionately refer to as SoSlo. South Slope. About 30 artists work in 25 art studios. The philosophy behind Madarts is 'to encourage, inspire and promote' the artists in the project. Artists working at Madarts exhibit their work in group and solo shows at Giacobetti Paul Gallery. This gallery provides professional artists a venue for their work and also demands that they continue to produce new work regularly.

Dear All, this will be the last event at the current location of The Giacobetti Paul Gallery. And as fate would have it one of the artists scheduled to exhibit decided that she was not ready. This means that I will be exhibiting. I am very excited about the exhibition and I will post as many photos as I can to record the experience. It is contrary to most of the rules of American gallerists that I exhibit in my own gallery- I have done nothing to merit a solo New York exhibition. But if my master plan was self promotion it has been pretty inefficient. To exhibit the other artists at Madarts Studios during the past years it has cost me about 250k.
I feel like the project has accomplished many of it's goals even after my abrupt departure to France shortly after I opened the Dumbo gallery. The list of artists that have exhibited is impressive and I hope that the time at Madarts and at Giacobetti Paul has had something to do with their success. I am very proud of the project.
I will be in town for the opening this Thursday April 3rd at 6pm. It would be good to see anyone that has passed through since Madarts opened it's doors 11 years ago. And if not this time around, I will be back for the show and gallery closing night on April 26th. And now to the business of getting to New York and stretching and framing and hanging my 9 paintings. The paintings are currently sticking out of the end of a bag on their way to the hold of a British Airways 757. The show is in 48 hours. Not much has changed.
