This piece is from a series of illustrations for a story called 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳 by Isaac Bolshevis Singer that never went to print. June made them in the 1970s. She also made several erotic drawings for Penthouse Forum, illustrated a Buddhist children’s book called 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘶𝘮𝘱𝘬𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 and was a creative partner to Timothy Wyllie. I have so much respect for this woman, am grateful to know her and am continually inspired by her strength.

The earth is continually influenced by cosmic rays and our relational positioning in the universe. But what of the influence of energies coming to us from below, in the ground below our feet? Ancient gases rising from deep within the earth, mingling with the millions buried below.   
   
“Having the Vapours” is an antiquated description for a psychological state such as hysteria, mania, clinical depression, bipolar disorder, mood swings, lightheadness or PMS in which the sufferer loses mental focus. The Vapours were ascribed primarily to women and thought (by male doctors, of course) to be caused by internal emanations (vapours) from the womb.   
   
It is theorized that this feminized state of the Vapours refers back to the ancient Oracle of Delphi. Delphi was seen by the Greeks as the navel of the world, as designated by Apollo. Many would travel to the Oracle of Delphi to seek counsel or divination from Pythia, the high priestess. Inside the temple, Pythia would sit upon a tripod throne situated over a deep pit. Out of this pit rose vapors that would bring Pythia into a frenzied, altered state; a conduit between the mortal and divine worlds. Her enigmatic prophecies were not always intelligible and would thereby be interpreted by the attendant priests.   (text continued in comments)

Arthur is a nomadic artist based in Melbourne, Florida. His studio is often a sidewalk bench, located downtown. Most of his life is contained inside a large backpack, and he often sleeps under the palm trees on the outskirts of downtown. He sells his hand drawn greeting cards as his primary means of income.
We became friends with Arthur years ago, and have been collecting his work ever since. The recurring themes of his work (angels, swans, puppies) are rooted in his storied life experience. We were happy to show Arthur’s work often at Snow.
We’ve finally gotten around to making his Instagram account active again. We aim to post actively on that account, to shed light on his large body of work. Much of the paintings, drawings and greeting cards are available for purchase – all proceeds go directly to Arthur.

Please join us by bringing in the night with the return of Frankie’s Clownhouse at Union Pool. A collective winter ritual by friends we want to see together in one room. 
 
The night begins with the ever evolving pop duo (made with love) of Dancing in Tongues. Their first ever performance was at the first Clownhouse.  
 
Sandy Smiles rises again from her tomb- a witch triangle made up of Caroline (who holds the whip), Chip and Frankie.  
 
East Coast debut of solo material from Melissa front-woman (and epic photographer) Jane Pain with video by Miles Pflanz. Jane will soon embark on a Texas tour with her sister Margaret. 
 
Sonic journey by lover and fighter Kyp Malone, a Brooklyn based musician and artist who recently presented his cosmology of paintings at Snow Gallery. 
 
Rare performance of electronic perversions by Vampiros Kosmos (who also created the soundtrack for the exhibition 𝒯𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓈𝓊𝓇𝑒𝓈 𝒻𝓇𝑜𝓂 ℋ𝑒𝓁𝓁 at Snow Gallery). They will be transmitting at the exact moments of our transition into winter.  
 
The night will conclude with Lary 7, NYC  
sound-artist, musician and filmmaker, He is subject of a documentary by filmmaker Danielle de Picciotto called Not Junk Yet - The Art Of Lary 7. Lary 7 is a high magician of sound and vibration. 
 
R.D. Mayson will hold the night together transmitting synth rarities throughout the event.

Grateful for all the old & new friends we got to see while at NADA.
It was fun to recreate our Eldridge space down here on the lizard land Peninsula. The story continues…….
