Thank you to the New Richland Farm & City Days Committee for selecting the Historical Society as this year's Grand Marshal of the parade! We were honored to receive this recognition and had a wonderful time riding in the parade in a snazzy convertible!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to explore, share stories, ask questions, and learn more about our community's rich history. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you again.

It all started with a desk.

The desk originally stood in the depot in New Richland. When it was no longer needed there, it found a new home at Bruzek Hardware (pictured). After Tom Bruzek passed away and the contents of the store were sold at auction, the desk left New Richland.

In 2001, thanks to a loan from the State Bank of New Richland, the desk was purchased and returned home. That purchase marked the beginning of the New Richland Historical Society. Today, we continue to preserve our community's history while being housed in the historic Hotel Washburn. (Now the New Richland Area Food Shelf building)

Over the years, we have been fortunate to receive countless artifacts, photographs, and documents that help preserve the rich history of New Richland.

We have surprises for you!!
It started in 2001 with the purchase of a desk from the New Richland Depot. The desk (pictured) had been at Bruzek Hardware until it closed. A series of events and determination brought it home. More on that later!

We are grateful for the support we receive and for all the wonderful donations that allow us to continue. See you soon!!
