The Whitall House is an 18th-century Quaker homestead open for seasonal tours Thurs-Sun from 1pm to The 2017 season begins on April 6!
Tour the Whitall House to learn about what life was like for an 18th-century Quaker family. Adjacent to the house is Red Bank Battlefield and the earthen remains of Fort Mercer. The house and battlefield are part of the Gloucester County Parks system. The park features picnic pavilions and a scenic path along the Delaware River. Red Bank Battlefield Park is open from dawn to dusk, and the Whitall House is open seasonally.

We have a special family history program this coming Sunday (September 25) from 12-4. We’ll have hearth cooking, hands on activities, and even a colonial magician! The Whitall House will be open for families to explore at their own speed and docents on hand to answer your questions. Hope to see you in the park!

History Tots is BACK!
Looking for a fun, fall activity for your little one? History Tots is a one hour program designed for kids 6 and under. We read stories, complete a craft, and explore the Whitall House and Park. It’s hands on, family friendly, and a great way to introduce kids to the fun world of history. Sessions meet every other Friday from 10:30-11-30. Our first session is next Friday. Programs are free but registration is required. You can register here:

Mark your September calendars! We’re excited to offer a 100% family-friendly afternoon of fun, hands on history! Explore the Whitall House at your own pace, visit our amazing cooks in the kitchen, and check out our colonial history inspired magic show. We have lots of crafts, games, and scavenger hunts. The event is free and open to all ages but we hope to see lots of little faces in the park on the 25th!

On August 2, Commissioner Director Frank DiMarco and Commissioner Liaison to Parks and Recreation Jim Jefferson welcomed members of the media to Red Bank Battlefield to hear the exciting discovery of 14 individuals who are believed to be Hessian. The discovery was made during a public archeology day event in the park.
Other exciting discoveries included musket balls, brass buttons, and a very rare 1766 British gold guinea coin. Dr. Jen Janofsky, Giordano Fellow in Public History and Park Director, directed the project.
This coming Wednesday (August 3) from 10am-3pm, Red Bank Battlefield will be hosting an archeology open house. Please come out and meet the team, see some of our amazing artifacts, and view the excavated trench. We have important news to announce tomorrow so stay tuned. If you’re in the park today, we’d love to see you at our outside exhibit on 18th Century Medical Tools. While you’re at it, you can take a picture with some of our soldier cutouts!
The Butterfly House is open Thursday through Sunday from 10-12:30. Admission is free, and it is located right next to the Whitall House.
Mark your calendar for our next park event- our annual Butterfly Festival! Visit us on July 16 and enjoy games, family activities, and educational gardening/nature sessions. This is a great event for all ages and free to the public!
We hope to see you today at our Family History Day: Vintage Baseball! The house will have Jackie Robinson Memorabilia on display, and we will have both a vintage baseball presentation at 2 and trap ball demonstrations at 1 and 3 out in the park!
We have two big events in the park this Sunday: Vintage Baseball AND our public archeology project. Parking in the park will be limited. Please use the overfill lot— the baseball field on your left as you approach the park entrance. Hope to see you in the park!

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? We have openings for our public archeology days for this Saturday afternoon (6/25) and both sessions on Sunday (6/26). Participants screen for artifacts, learn about the field of archeology and how to identify what we're finding. We're also looking for help washing artifacts--we've found a lot of great stuff including musket balls, canister shot and Native American artifacts. Registration is required:

Some of our wonderful volunteers of the Whitall House are here today at Atkinson Park for the Gloucester County Summer Kick-Off that goes from 11-5. We have an 18th century surgical tool demonstration, information about our site, and coloring books for the little ones! Hopefully we will see you there!
We have a lot of great summer programs taking place in the park. Come check out our historic baseball day on June 26. Pop into the Whitall House to see some great historic baseball items including Jackie Robinson memorabilia! Stick around for an interactive vintage baseball demonstration. The event is free and open to all ages.
