Our Ice Cream Social event on July 29th in Cobb Park will be featuring the Just4Fun Ladies Quartet.

Their quartet sings 4-part a ca****la harmony in the barbershop style. They started singing together "just for fun" in 2017 to practice chorus music. They liked their sound and started learning their own songs and doing performances.

They are members of the Wichita Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. They are proud to say that they are the reigning 3rd place small chorus at the international level. Find more information about their chorus at wichitachorus.com or like the page for up-to-date info at Wichita Chorus.

Linda Julius who owns Tres Belle Beads is one of our vendors at our Made in Mulvane display at our museum.
Linda writes:
I have always loved jewelry since i was old enough to wear it. About 12 years ago I took my daughter to a bead shop in
Derby for a girls day out. We made some jewelry & new jewelry friends. It became a weekly fun time. I started to make things for friends & family then one day a friend said "You should sell your jewelry at craft shows!" So I shared a booth with a friend at a show. I have been doing shows ever since then. I have ladies that come by my booths every year to purchase for themselves or gifts.
Each necklace is unique & one of a kind. I have ladies that will bring me a blouse or jacket, and ask me to make jewelry to match and I've been honored to make wedding jewelry for brides. I love doing any of this and just ask what my $$ limit is. I have also repaired special old jewelry pieces that had special memories to them. I feel very blessed & honored they ask me to bring their jewelry back to life!! The look on their face is priceless.

God has blessed me
with this special talent & I love sharing it with others.

Thank you for coming by & checking out Made in Mulvane.

Sonya Schifferdecker who owns Kiln Fused Glass is another one of our vendors at our Made in Mulvane Display at our museum. Sonya writes:
I have been “playing with glass” since 2014. Kiln-fused glass melts glass together either partially (tack-fused) or fully (full-fused). It can then be put into a mold to take the form of many different items. I like putting colors together—sometimes in the form of a plate or bowl but most recently, in the panes of windows. My husband restored our daughter’s 25 year old playhouse into a tool shed. He had to rebuild the windows so I fused glass for the new panes---We now have very colorful windows in our shed! I enjoy making Christmas ornaments, night lights, and crosses. I have recently been incorporating paint on some of my pieces. It’s a good day when I finish a project with no band-aids from glass cuts. J

I would like to personally thank, Mr. Bucky Fowler for making a special trip to our museum yesterday to drop off two of his CD's that his family has created. The museum will be carrying his CD's: The Bucky Fowler Family and The Bucky Fowler Family: A Touch of Bluegrass. The CD's will be in our gift shop. In the past decade, The Bucky Fowler Family has performed regularly at our Mulvane yearly celebration, Old Settlers Days. I have always enjoyed watching and listening to their family sing in harmony at their performances; and now, you can listen to their music any time you want by purchasing their CD's here at our Mulvane Historical Museum.

Hello one and all,
Our museum has the Mulvane yearbooks for the Mulvane community to view. However, I noticed that we are missing the following years: 1992, 1993, 1998, and 2009. I would appreciate if anyone who would like to donate their yearbook copy to us or know of someone who has a duplicated copy of the above years, to give them to us. These yearbooks are viewed by many from our community and it would be nice to have them back on our shelf.

Posted the Mulvane Monopoly game on the "You Might be from Mulvane" page. Was hoping to generate interest so that the Museum Museum could benefit from revenue from providing this game again. There is definitely an interest.
I dropped in today to visit with "Autumn" she works there and she is a wonderful person! I was so happy to meet her. After some friendly questions I was shown an amazing display that has been setup for local artisans! Yep, local crafters and artisans now have a place to share their art! I encourage you all to go and check it out! In the near future I might be able to add some of my Glass Art too!

Come in and see our Vaseline glass ---
Did you know that Uranium glass was popular between the mid 1800's up until the beginning of World War II. The color of uranium glass was a pale-yellowish green. In the 1920's, uranium glass was nicknamed "vaseline glass" because it looked like the color of petroleum jelly, which was formulated and commercially sold at the time.
Our family visited your museum and enjoyed it. We noticed that the Robinson family was not represented. I realized that was because our family had not donated any photos or historic items. The next time we were through Mulvane we dropped off some clothing items from late 1870 and 1911 through 1918. They were owned by Mrs. William Robinson Sr. and Janie Robinson Shaw. I am looking forward to seeing them displayed so that many more people will enjoy them.
I found this photo in my grandparents papers...it says Old Bridge South of Mulvane...the people standing on the bridge might be my Great Grandparents William and Mary Howard.
I JUST NOW..........SATURDAY.......RAINY EVENING 10-14-17 STARTED THE FACEBOOK PAGE............ MULVANE HAPPENINGS..................ANYONE CAN JOIN...............IT IS AN EFFORT TO INFORM ANYONE ON FACEBOOK...............IN PARTICULAR...............MULVANE RESIDENTS AND FRIENDS AS TO ACTIVITIES GOING ON IN MULVANE. TODAY MY WOMEN'S CLUB HELD A BAKE SALE AT THE FARMERS MARKET BUT I DID NOT HAVE A GOOD WAY OF INFORMING RESIDENTS IN MULVANE..........I HOPE THIS HELPS FOR EVENTS IN THE FUTURE. BASICALLY I WANT IT TO BE FOR ONLY EVENTS. THANKS PLEASE ADD AN EVENT ANYTIME.
MULVANE FEDERATED WOMEN'S CLUB WILL HAVE ITS FIRST MEETING OF THE YEAR THIS WEDNESDAY, THE 13TH OF SEPTEMBER, AT 12 NOON IN THE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN MULVANE. WE ARE NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY CHURCH BUT ARE FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO USE THE CHURCH FACILITY. ANY WOMEN FROM THE SURROUNDING TOWNS ARE INVITED TO JOIN US FOR A PROGRAM, TREATS, AND A SHORT MEETING. COME CHECK US OUT. WE HAVE A GREAT TIME AND ARE ALWAYS WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS.
Nice little video of our town & Cobb Park.
LAST NIGHT..........AT THE ICE CREAM SOCIAL............ MY HUSBAND WAS LOOKING AT THE MULVANE MUSEUM AS A PATRIOTIC SONG WAS CLOSING OUT THE ICE CREAM SOCIAL. HE SAID THIS MORNING...........I THINK IT WOULD BE NICE IF THERE WERE THREE FLAGS IN FRONT OF THE MUSEUM..........AN AMERICAN FLAG..........A KANSAS FLAG ...............AND A MULVANE FLAG ( I DON'T THINK WE HAVE ONE YET???) JUST AN IDEA. IT WOULD LOOK GREAT AND LAST NIGHT AS I PUT MY HAND OVER MY CHEST THERE WAS NO FLAG IN SIGHT...............JUST AN IDEA...........I WILL POST IT ON THEIR SITE TOO. HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE ICE CREAM SOCIAL THAT THE MULVANE HISTORICAL SOCIETY PUT ON LAST NIGHT. MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE A CONTEST FOR A MULVANE FLAG..........IF WE DO NOT ALREADY HAVE ONE.
