More Rumely stuff from Iron Age

Here's an Advance-Rumely DoAll, 'the little convertible tractor that could', but came too late to save the company from the Great Depression. This one was owned by Homer Flick, a Rumely dealer in Somerset, Pennsylvania.

Some interesting reading on one of the Rumely companys

The wheels of time have moved slowly for this 5 HP Falk Co. engine, but thanks to Gary Baher its future is bright once more.

Seeking to know if there's a connection to the name of M. Rumely (originator of Rumely tractors?) to "Mr. Rumely" and "a business man from Ohio" who settled in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (wooded wilderness near Lake Superior - south of Munising - known in the pioneer days for iron mining and lumber) about 1873. The location started out as a train station "Rumely" for the Munising Railway about 1890 - aka Detroit, Mackinac & Marquette Railroad.
Area is named Rumely - so is it possibly named after Meinrad Rumely. or someone related to him or the company? Is there a solid connection? Please advise...the new Kassel's Rumely (grocery store, gas, etc.) will be open soon and area residents/farmers and snowmobilers from afar are excited about the reopening of this country store in the wilderness. A beautiful location for a possible tractor event somewhere down the line...My brother has plenty of land there by the store that he purchased recently. He loves history so I'm trying to do the research for him and the community. Sincerely, Cheryl T

Rumely - in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

In 2014, my brother bought an old store country store. They will open it next week. (Kassel's Rumley Store? Not yet named.) I'm working on the history of the store.

This Finnish farming community (with waterfalls and forests near Lake Superior) was named after an Ohio businessman who came here in the later 1800s. The store wasn't built until 1930s and has a beautiful upstairs residence (not just an apartment). I am learning more and more but need some help.

Do you know if that businessman would have been Meinrad? Or a relative?

Please forward this note on to your archive people if I am not consulting the right folks. Much thanks. Cheryl
