We had rescheduled our block party for Friday, April 17th, but with the extended social distancing guidelines that have been set through April, we have to cancel this event.

Vendors & sponsors- we are working on alternative smaller events that will happen when all of this is over to give you opportunities to sell and be featured in our community.

We are all so very sad and frustrated by everything that's happening just like all of you, but we need to be responsible and make the best decisions for each of you in our community.

Stay well and please stay home as much as possible during this time.

Census 2020

While you are spending a lot more time at home, can you help out your county -- and yourself -- and please fill out your census form?!

Our response rate as of 3/24/20 is only at 15.4%.

Over 55 federal programs use census data to fund services that directly impact our community such as school lunches, Medicaid, rural assistance, food banks, SNAP, WIC and housing assistance.

For everyone who is not counted we will lose $2,300 per person per year for the next 10 years. This will have a dramatic impact on the funding for these programs.

Complete your census here - https://my2020census.gov/login It will take less than 10 minutes!

Here’s something you can do from your home with the kids this week!

It's National and Georgia Ag Week!!! This week let's have a little fun and have an agriculture scavenger hunt that we can do from home or wherever.

Today is Hands-on Garden Day. Post a picture of your garden, bees, butterflies, birds, flowers, etc. Get outside and enjoy some fresh air. If it's raining where you live, find a magazine that has a picture of the above things.

Share your photos on here.

Let's throw in a little Q & A:
What year did President Abraham Lincoln establish the United States Department of Agriculture?

Don't forget to use the hashtag #GeorgiaGrown #GaAgWeek2020 and #MaconCountyFarmBureau.

Please don't forget about our local restaurants and retailers. Especially in smaller rural communities like ours, the local businesses often operate with a smaller profit margin and need our support now as much as they ever have.

Let us try to support them in any way we can during this time.

Congratulations to the City of Montezuma on the completion of the first phase of the airport runway extension. We had a nice event celebrating this major accomplishment for the city that will also impact the entire county!

The next phases will include adding hangars and classrooms out at the airport in addition to other plans! This is a huge step toward attracting more industry and businesses that require a larger runway.

Welcome the newest Chamber Member kTs Fitness Staying fit is an important part of living a full and healthy life. With all the great food Macon County has to offer, it is critical to have a place you can keep in shape. Fortunately there is such a place. It's call kTs Fitness. kTs Fitness is a gym located in Montezuma. It was started by an athletic, health-conscious young woman named Tara Mallard. Mallard's motto is, "Living a healthy life is no excuse." Mallard enjoys staying in shape herself and decided to make a business out of helping others stay fit. She started her business doing aerobics classes in 2011. The next year, Mallard took it even further and opened her gym, kTs Fitness. The gym offers aerobics classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The gym is open 24/7. A wide selection of workout equipment is also available at kTs Fitness. They have free weights and weight machines for working on your upper body strength. Equipment for cardio fitness training is also available. Mallard is working to teach the importance of fitness beyond the gym. She has volunteered at places such as the Montezuma Boys and Girls club and Montezuma Parks and Recreation Department's summer program. She attended the Macon County Health Fair to teach group exercise classes and share healthy tips with individuals looking to maintain a fit lifestyle. A healthy life is a happy life. Mallard is helping Macon County get off the couch and get active. She not only cares about her health, but she is helping others to learn to care about theirs.
