HOW THE MP FREE LITTLE ART GALLERY WORKS...
With the opening of the MP Free Little Art Gallery coming up on April 18th at 1PM, we wanted to reiterate some detail on how the gallery will operate in response to questions we recently received.
Here goes:
> Located at the corner of Fountain and Chestnut streets, the gallery will be unlocked and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week after it opens on April 18th, at 1PM.
> You can visit the gallery as often as you like!
> On some visits, you might just want to look around and enjoy the little art on display.
> On some visits, you might see a piece of little art that you love and choose to take home.
> On some visits, you might want to leave a piece of little art that you created.
> And on some visits, you might want to take a piece of little art you love, AND leave a piece of little art you have made!
> Also, please take lots of photos of you leaving art, taking art, or just visiting, and tag us here, or use on FB and IG.
Our hope and goal for the gallery is that it is self-sustaining. To be self-sustaining, the number of pieces of little art that are taken home will roughly equal the number of pieces of little art that people place in the gallery for others to take home. We hope you are working on your own little art to leave in the gallery when you visit during the opening on the 18th!
We have stocked the Free Little Art Gallery with easels and pedestals that you can use to display little art you have created. If you have something that you need help displaying, like a hanging mobile, for example, we ask that you let us know and we will install a hook or whatever is needed to properly display your art. IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT remove the pedestals, easels, gallery bench, or "little patrons" (doll figures) from the gallery.
One request....we take a lot of pride in the property we have restored on Fountain St. During your visits, we respectfully ask that you treat the gallery and our property/landscaping as your own. Like my grandfather told me long ago, "leave things as good or better than you found them!"
We sincerely hope that the community adopts the Free Little Art Gallery as its own and enjoys it as a celebration of the arts and all that makes Mineral Point unique and wonderful.
Watch for an exciting announcement on Friday about a little art donation from a famous artist that will be raffled off to one very, very lucky visitor to the gallery on opening day, April 18th!!!
