🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌿

Reflecting on the power of education and action this Earth Day. Over the past month, I had the privilege of leading nine workshops across four governorates in Egypt - Ismailia, Fayoum, Alexandria, and Cairo. Working with over 720 students, we embarked on a journey to learn about reducing our ecological footprint and embracing sustainable practices.

Each workshop was an opportunity to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards. With an average of 80 students participating in two rounds per day, we delved into practical ways to protect our planet. From discussing the importance of recycling to demonstrating how small changes can make a big impact, the enthusiasm and eagerness to learn were palpable.

One of the highlights was witnessing the creativity and dedication of these students as they engaged in artwork using recycled materials. Knowing that their pieces will adorn their schools as a testament to their commitment to sustainability fills me with hope for the future.

But perhaps the most touching moment was when each student put their fingerprint and name on that artwork, pledging to conserve and protect our precious planet. It's moments like these that remind us of the power of collective action and the importance of investing in environmental education.

As we celebrate Earth Day, let's not only reflect on the beauty of our planet but also on our responsibility to preserve it for generations to come. Together, we can make a difference.

OMG, it was an adventure. I love this day tho.

Let me share some stories. I used to explore the city alone during the first few months of my stay in Miami cause I didn't have friends yet. On top of that, I used to use public transportation.

Public Transportation in Miami is hectic, to say the least. On this day, I decided to try a new way so I used the metro mover for the first time and surprisingly I got lost for 2 hours. There was just an hour and a half to discover a four-flour huge building. I was so stressed and frustrated cause the ticket was expensive as well.

I kept reminding myself to enjoy each minute and forget about everything that happened. I really enjoyed the metro mover. It was like a roller coaster 🎢, and y'all there is no driver inside it is so automated 😂.

Then I met very kind people inside. The first pic has been taken by one of the museum's workers😂. While he was asking me to leave the museum as it was closure time, I asked him to take a pic of me instead 😂 and he did kindly to be honest. So grateful🙏

The last 2 pics are my absolute favorite ones. This pretty little girl in the last pic saw me trying to take some selfies so she offered some help. She was the cutest ever. Pic no 6 is taken by her, then I asked her and her brother to take a selfie all together 🥰.

And the Pakistani family that I met there was the sweetest. A lot to say, to be continued....

I imagine a world where bees do exist! Because that means that we are still alive!
I’m an Egyptian and I am sharing my painting with you from the United States of America which is one of the biggest polluters in the world regarding the climate change issue. I live in Alexandria, Egypt which is a city in danger of drowning because of the consequences of climate change. Now, you can imagine people losing their houses, jobs and migrating to other places where there are resource deficiency and poor access to education and health. I can keep counting the consequences as we are experiencing them nowadays not just in Alexandria but also all over the world whether developing, least developed, or even developed countries.

A single bee colony can pollinate 300 million flowers in one day as Bees pollinate approximately 75 percent of the world’s flowering plants and 35 percent of the world’s food crops according to The United States Department of Agriculture. Therefore, they support the production of 87 of the world’s leading food crops. Bees are listed as endangered for the first time ever in the U.S. The former FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva highlighted that the consequences of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution are one of the reasons that put bees under a great threat. It sounds like asking the bee to learn how to swim and adapt to our polluted environment cause we ruined its habitat. According to a study published in The Royal Society Journal, more than $50 billion of the USA’s total food supply is spent on pollinator-dependent crop production.

Bees affect the different aspects of sustainability; environmentally, socially, and even economically. Pollination is vital to the health of the global food system. If the U.S. should pay all this money for the production of pollinator-dependent crops, what should the developing countries, and LDC do then? How can they survive?! What about the upcoming generation?! If we will experience all of that because of a tiny insect, what about the other consequences?

So, I imagine a world where there are sustainability, abundant resources, a clean environment, and climate justice.

It was my pleasure meeting and talking to Mrs. Daniella Levine Cava the Mayor of Miami-Dade County on the 4th of July in Tropical Park in Miami, FL. She is such a humble, supportive, and amazing woman, to say the least.

She was elected Miami-Dade County's first-ever woman Mayor in November 2020 of Miami-Dade County. Can you tell the power, enthusiasm, and hard work?

America was celebrating its independence day yesterday. Everything was outstanding too.
