“You can be alone in New York, but you’re never lonely if you’re in a museum.”
Stephen Bernstein was given a MoMA Membership in 1954 and has been a frequent visitor ever since. He even participated in the Museum’s Art Lending Service, through which he once rented a print by Andy Warhol to display in his home.
Visiting MoMA’s galleries, especially during exhibitions with lots of artwork, was one of the biggest influences the museum had on his life that inspired him to turn his home into a jigsaw puzzle of art.
For Stephen, MoMA is more than just a place to celebrate art—it’s also a hub for lasting connections. He’s built friendships here that extend beyond the museum, with some people becoming so close they exchange Christmas cards.
