Willington on the Way We are a non profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the 1912 commercial buildings in the village of Willington SC, pop 142.

The organization sponsors the buildings on Hwy 81 and Morrah Bridge Road in Willington SC. 1. Willington History Center open Wed-Sat 11-3. Information on local genealogies and historic sites. Features a museum, country store replica, diorama of New Bordeaux and Willing to Academy, vintage quilts, research books, panels of African American places in SC, and a community meeting space. 2. Willington Bookshop open Wed-Sat 11-3. 30,0000 used books mostly priced under $3.00 and a special selection of new books on McCormick County history. 3. Daniel P Juengst Railroad and Post Office Center (open appointment only) Features 1910 diorama of Willington, Railroad and Post Office memorabilia. 4. African American Culture Center (open appointment only) Features 1920 Green Olive school building and a collection if African American memorabilia and artifacts.

Mark your calendars! Willington Open House July 9 from 11 to 3. Fort Charlotte diorama will be unveiled. Major James Mayson and Dr. Moses Waddel will rise from the dead and make guest appearance. The Flying Angels gospel choir will be performing. Local historian Bobby Edmonds will be signing copies of his new book.

The Willington African American Cultural Center Committee's Annual Gospel Festival is planned for Friday April 1st, at 2354 Highway 81, Willington SC. This free festival featuring area gospel groups and choirs will start at 6:00 pm. Refreshments will be available for purchase. On 4/9/16 the Willington Bookshop will be represented at McCormick's Bells& Whistles festival. This is an annual event in downtown McCormick that features a variety of vendors and entertainment. It also serves to highlight the cultural achievements and the diversity that our small town offers. Our Bookshop will sell books on local history, children's books, fiction, religion, history, gardening, thrillers and classics. Price range for most books 50 cents to $3.00. Hope to see you there!
