i shared this painting when i first launched this account, but i never really gave it the proper introduction it deserved.

i painted this as a tribute to my marriage and the idea of continuing to grow together, even through situations that can feel impossible.

the two skeletons represent my husband and i, surrounded by roots, flowers and new growth. the plants are a reminder that something new can still grow from what may seem finished or dead. even when it feels like there’s nowhere left for growth to happen, sometimes it finds a way.

the sun and moon represent the different seasons we move through together, but also the differences between us. we really can be night and day sometimes, and i wanted both to exist together in the same world.

this painting is about choosing each other through change, continuing to grow together through the seemingly impossible, and believing that love can survive places where it might have been easier to believe it was finished. 🤍

funny story, i actually hated this painting when i finished it. 😂

i was so unhappy with how it turned out that i gave the original away because i genuinely didn’t want to look at it anymore.

finding these photos again a couple years later has been strange because… i don’t hate it anymore. actually, i kind of love it.

this one really just unfolded as i painted. a winding checkerboard path, strange mushrooms, twisted trees, and a very pink creature watching from above.

and now i’m realizing i painted “the visitor”, my three-eyed cat, four years before this… so maybe that pink little critter isn’t as random as i thought. 👀

this one has a weird little story behind it.
for a while, i kept having dreams where this three-eyed cat would appear. not just once, but enough times that it felt a little too specific to ignore.

i had no idea what it meant. honestly, i still don’t. i just knew i couldn’t stop thinking about it, so i painted it. 👁️🐈‍⬛

six years later, i still have the painting and apparently the mystery. what do you think she was trying to tell me?

also, this was painted before kovu was even born. HMM…

survived my first art market!! 🥹🎨

funny enough, i almost didn’t apply. there seemed to be so much interest that i figured i probably didn’t have much of a chance, but on a whim i went for it anyway… and i got in! a pretty good reminder that you miss 100% of the opportunities you don’t take. you fail by default when you don’t even give yourself the chance. i’m really glad i didn’t listen to the insecurity and just went for it. 🤍

i spent the day talking about art, meeting other artists and so many genuinely lovely people. thank you Renton Art Oasis and City of Renton for putting this together and giving local artists a space to share what we make.

one of my favorite moments was a little kid who REALLY wanted a couple of my prints. his mom said no at first, so i gave him a business card with the little mouse from my quiet grace painting on the back and told him he could have it as a free mini print. the smile on his face made my day. 🥹

a while later, they came back and he got his two prints after all. his mom told me they had walked through the entire market looking at everyone’s art, and that her son had officially deemed me “the chosen artist.” 😭👑

(i now have a complex 💅)

thank you to everyone who stopped by, talked with me, bought a print, or simply took the time to look. I had such a good time and i am thankful the chance i took led me here.
