The work has been shown at anumber of galleries from New York to Richmond. These pictures give an idea of how the art has evolved. The work has become more ambitious in content and conceptualization, as well as incorporating technological components to expand the reach of the ideas underlying the pieces.

Return to shop and fetch more works. They are smaller and it looks like a snap to hang - Right?........Like this piece - but note the wires hanging down below and inside the cavity. They connect power supply to amplifier and enable audio transmitted via Blue Tooth connection to a remote speaker. Andy does this.

The shop before starting to disassemble and transport work to the show. Rudy'sGarage had to be dissasembled and secured to a rack designed for placement in a truck bed. The process is complicated by the need to protect delicate electronic and audio components.

Grasshopper

A short clip for a video to be produced in 2017. It is highly influenced by the Quay Brothers' work in stop action animation, even though I do no animation of this sort, I admire their atmospherics.

This is "Grasshopper" by Alex Bay on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

An Older piece that is the antecedent of much late work

This construction was completed in 2009. Originally shown at an exhibition in NY, it was first made in three sections. These were modified and assembled as a single unit and back lighting was added, as well as a cranking mechnism which allows viewer to move the entire piece and set in motion the small pendulums in the various cells.

Latest large sculpture: wood, fiberglass, steel, oil on masonite. Crank on left can be turned by viewer to move whole work and put the small articulated devices in the cells into motion. Original is 21 feet long. This version shortened to 17 feet for exhibition. Sounds of the motion are amplified and played through speakers.
