Second Story Studio MQT Second Story Studio is a cozy Studio and Gallery located downtown Marquette Michigan on the second floor of the Wattsson & Wattsson building.

Today’s studio notes- I have a second self appointed job as turtle wrangler. I almost crushed this sassy little bitch on the highway. It was a near thing. I would’ve been devastated. I cried when I discovered the second snapping turtle crushed on my DIRT road. I must stop 2-3 times a day to usher these crabby ladies off roads.

Sometimes I love a kitschy craft. Especially if it involves saving something old. I’m going to refurbish this old mount. It’s not an original idea. Not everything we do as artists must be original. Sometimes it can be because it’s fun and cool and we get to try something different. Wish us luck.

9 years and five months ago I started my first public art page to promote my artwork. I wasn’t ready. I still hadn’t found that medium that stole my heart. I still didn’t know what I wanted to say. Between 2019 and 2025 I saw North America. I fell in love with paint. I developed a deeper appreciation for home, for what makes this place unique. One year and nine months ago Kurt, my husband ( ), texted me to inform me he signed a lease. We’d no more than floated the idea. I spent the next three months putting vague ideas into action.

I read once it takes ten years to build an art career. Ten years ago it all felt unlikely. Impossible.
It takes three years to establish a storefront.

It took me a lifetime, 49 states, a continent, an unexpected job loss and 10,000+ miles to get to here.

Good Morning, the light is banging at 10 AM.

I went on a side quest about data centers yesterday. I don’t follow rules well. I don’t follow Robert’s Rules at all. Oh, well.

Anyway, Second Story Studio is open. I’m not sure when I will close. They are closing the street from 3-6… I’ll be here until at least 3pm
