Edelman Fossil Park of Rowan University It’s not just a museum; it’s a time-traveling adventure through history, and a commitment to safeguard our planet’s future.

The Edelman Fossil Park is one of the best fossil localities in the United States and may hold the key to understanding the mass extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs and 75% of species on Earth 65 million years ago. We are an academic-community partnership, working closely with Mantua Township and Gloucester County. Our goal is to preserve the uniquely important fossil resources at the Edelman

Fossil Park and to establish a Center for K to Gray STEM Education and Citizen Science. The site is open to visitors only during scheduled events. We host numerous class trips that bring over 6,000 students to the site annually. Our annual community dig day is very popular. This year nearly 2,000 people attended. Mosquitoes may be an important part of the food chain (and even played a role in Jurassic Park), but they aren't always great to have around human spaces. Help scientists better understand and control mosquito populations by documenting mosquito habitats and contributing to real-world research that can help prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

🌊 Happy World Ocean Day! 🌊

Today, we’re celebrating a creature that’s incredibly special to both our planet and our New Jersey coastline: the horseshoe crab. Did you know horseshoe crabs have been around for nearly 450 million years?! These remarkable animals have changed very little over time, earning them the nickname "living fossils."

Despite surviving multiple mass extinctions, horseshoe crabs now face growing challenges. Over-harvesting, habitat loss, climate change, and changes to their intertidal breeding grounds threaten their populations and their ability to reproduce successfully.

This World Ocean Day, we encourage everyone to help protect our oceans and the incredible species that call them home. You can make a difference by reducing single-use plastics, recycling, keeping beaches free of litter, and supporting local conservation efforts.

Together, we can help ensure these ancient survivors continue thriving for generations to come. 💙
