With some schools closed again tomorrow, we’re turning another unexpected day off into a prehistoric adventure. Tomorrow, September 3, kids from across Gloucester County will receive FREE admission to Edelman Fossil Park & Museum! 🦖

Creature Feature: Hadrosaur 🦖

Hadrosaurs were plant-eating dinosaurs known for their distinctive duckbill-shaped beaks and rows of teeth built for snipping and grinding vegetation. They also had large resonating chambers that may have helped amplify their calls, similar to horses today.

In 1858, William Parker Foulke discovered a remarkably complete hadrosaur skeleton in Haddonfield, New Jersey—just 12 miles from Edelman Fossil Park & Museum. It was the most complete dinosaur skeleton discovered at the time and represented a new species.

As members of the ornithopods, one of the five major branches of dinosaurs, hadrosaurs are another reminder of New Jersey's incredible place in paleontology. 🦴

The 2026–2027 school year is officially upon us, and our September and October Homeschool Days are almost here!

Homeschool families can join us for a fun day of exploration and learning at EFM, featuring a special program or workshop focused on a different theme with each visit, plus the opportunity to touch real fossils and specimens.
