Hello Friends, Some of the roads in the cemetery may be closed to traffic from Friday until next week as we resurface and pave these avenues. We hope that this will not be to disruptive to your visits. Please note that East Meadow Avenue will be completely repaved during this time. Thank you.

Hello everyone, While we encourage people to visit the cemetery and walk the beautifully landscaped grounds please remember that it is a Cemetery and not a playground for children. If you want to take your children to roller blade, skateboard, or ride their bikes, we suggest that you take them to Shedd Park located next to the cemetery. Also, please do not allow your children to climb on the monuments or trees. Your child's safety is our biggest concern. Additionally, many of the monuments are over 100 years old and cannot be replaced if damaged by children playing on them. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Throughout Preservation Month, we're highlighting the various National Register of Historic Places - NPS listings in Lowell during the month of May over the years and on this date in 1998, the Lowell Cemetery was listed. Established in 1841, the cemetery is an important, early example of the "rural" cemetery movement of the mid-19th century and the fourth of its kind in the United States.

Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Register is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. Lowell has 14 districts and 24 individually-listed properties on the National Register, including one National Historic Landmarks Program district totaling nearly 2,300 properties.

My friend Linda Uch and I did our run early this morning around the Shedd Park area and through the cemetery, we would like to give a shout out to your team for keeping the cemetery beautiful, as always.
this is such a beautiful and interesting place. It would be great to have "self guided" recorded tours for those that are physically limited and give people an opportunity to visit if they miss the fall and spring tours.
