Piet Mondrian's signature abstract style and pallet still remains one of the most pervasive designs throughout our culture. His work is genius, but also accessible and made it a perfect fit to feature in our Modernism Edition Playset.

Introducing Lynx, part time docent, all-time artist. Docent'ing with Aspen is just Lynx’s side gig (and one he does mostly just to hang out with Aspen). Lynx is primarily an artist and musician.

On the art side, Lynx loves making big installations. One of his favorite motifs is adult-size versions of classic kids’ toys. This might mean everything from a giant beach ball to a walk-in doll “dreamhouse” to a driveable version of the classic red-and-yellow Little Tikes car. Lynx is a very cerebral, intellectual person — but he believes that the joy of play is an important part of the human experience, and loves approaching play for adults in a smart, art-y way. Mostly you'll find him in NY but will drift where the wind takes him at a moment's notice.

Featuring another favorite artist - Jacob Lawrence, known for his unique style aptly referred to as "dynamic cubism" with a primary influence of the shapes & colors found throughout Harlem. We were especially moved by his 'Builders' series of works which we're excited to feature in the Modernism Edition playset.

Introducing.... me! Yes, I'm Aspen and for those of you familiar with our Kickstarter you may remember me! I'm the creator of the Museum Tour Playset series and am a bicoastal museum docent dedicated to getting children to experience more art, and getting adults ot experience art more like children. I travel around the country doing guest tours but can generally be found in LA. Email me if you want me to visit your local museum! And yes - I'm a peg person.

Introducing Ben, our newest docent. Ben is a proud collector of KAWS sculptures and unisex slingbags. A master of descriptive words and phrases, Ben is known for his playful take on helping his young tour attendees pick the precise words and description for any work of art, sparking a love of not just art, but the art of describing art. Or, in Ben's own words "“My work centers on an interest in the universality of our biological makeup and linguistics; combined with the collective sense of the sublime…”

Thanks Ben, now we get it.

Each of our playsets features different docents that lead kids through a fictional museum tour told in the included board book (also sold separately). Over the next few weeks we'll be introducing each of the docents.
