Children's Discovery Museum

Children's Discovery Museum The Children's Discovery Museum aims to provide local families with an interactive, child-focused space to foster discovery and learning.
(52)

Imagine a child friendly space right here in Cowlitz County where children and their families could engage in imaginative, interactive hands on learning during those rainy Washington days... The Children's Discovery Museum is a gift to the community. It will provide a "pop- up" children's museum and the opportunity to facilitate family and kids (age up to 17) engaging in imaginative, interactive, hands on learning in a safe and supportive environment. We will have a variety of exhibits to explore imaginative play, the arts and sciences. The Children's Discovery Museum is a volunteer run museum. As of November 2016 the museum is housed in the Three Rivers Mall next to Macy's. Starting in January 2017, the museum will be open Wednesdays 11a-4p and Sundays 1p-4p. This project will not be possible without the support and enthusiasm of community members. So please spread the word to your friends and family. We hope that you and your family join us on this adventure. Please contact us through Facebook or email with any questions or to learn more about volunteer opportunities with the Children's Discovery Museum.

Help Pathways 2020 develop their initiatives for 2020 and beyond! The survey only takes 3 minutes!

I hope you are doing well and can take a couple minutes to assist Pathways 2020. We are planning for the future and developing strategies to continue our work beyond 2020.

To do this, we are asking three questions about your view of living here in Cowlitz County. Below is a link to a Survey Monkey questionnaire that will provide us with the feedback necessary to help us develop our strategic plans. Initially, the information will be used to host town hall meetings in June.

Please take a few minutes and answer the survey and if you would, please forward the link to others in the community. The more responses we receive the better job we can do. The survey is open through April 10. Thank you for your help today and I am looking forward to working with you in the future.

The Children’s Discovery Museum (CDM) has been closely monitoring and following guidance from the CDC, State of Washington, Cowlitz County Health Department and the local school districts. To help limit the spread of COVID-19 and in support of Governor Inslee’s recent announcements, The Children’s Discovery Museum will be closed to the public starting Saturday, March 14, and remain closed through the end of the month. By taking this proactive step, we hope to limit exposure to this virus and help protect our entire community.

We will continue to monitor advice from the CDC, State of Washington, and the Cowlitz County Health Department, as we make decisions and communicate about reopening the museum.

We are proud to be part of Cowlitz County and the safety of our patrons is always our priority. We look forward to reopening!

You can follow updates on our Facebook and Instagram pages. If you would like more information please contact Dawn Morgan, Executive Director at [email protected].

The Children's Discovery Museum was founded in 2016 with the goal of providing a safe space for children and their families to learn. We are located in Historic Downtown Longview at 1209 Commerce Avenue. We specialize in interactive play and hands-on learning. Exhibits include the nature niche, farm to market area, the giant Lincoln Logs, the doctors office, dental office, and everyone's favorite: the ping pong ball shower. Stop by to see our facilities for yourself, and get the chance to experience learning through play.
