Big news! Paul Baker Prindle has been named Director, and we are pleased that he will start working with us at the end of this month. View the press release: http://bit.ly/directornews
(Stay tuned - Social media platforms will be transitioning to reflect our new name: the Kleefeld Contemporary, read below for more information.)

Baker Prindle will join Cal State Long Beach College of the Arts as Director of the campus art museum, following his directorship at University of Nevada, Reno. Highly experienced in capital expansions and capacity building, Baker Prindle will work with stakeholders ahead of a significant expansion, as the University Art Museum is transformed into the Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum, or the Kleefeld Contemporary for short. He has opened two new museums in the past ten years while also engaging in major acquisition and program innovation initiatives. He looks forward to deepening the museum’s commitment to collecting and sharing exceptional contemporary art.

In case you missed it, the [email protected] Performing Arts Festival on April 11 was an awesome. It was a collaboration between the UAM, Slanguage, local artists (Brenda Pulido, Richi Panta, Stephen Tontz, Mike "Ice Man: Rivera), the California State University, Long Beach community (CSULB Department of Dance, CSULB Laptop Ensemble, DJ Raelle + DJ Coastal), and amazing groups like the Homeland Cultural Center Breakdance Crew. The evening activated museum spaces and invited the public to participate and interpret the exhibition "Call and Response," curated by Mario Ybarra Jr. and Karla Diaz. Slanguage artists were there too, and if you weren't you can still enjoy the good vibes by checking out this photo album and watching the video to be posted next!
