Collins Family Foundation/ART BY JUDY COLLINS

I began my art career back in 1984. It was never my intention to sell the paintings, but only to create artwork for my own enjoyment and share it with my friends and family.

I spent most of my life in the field of business in partnership with my husband.

However, when my husband died in 2017 I found myself with lots of time and a cellar full of paintings. I had always had a plan in the back of my mind to eventually sell them and donate the proceeds to organizations in the third world who help those who are struggling and in need. I have seen the need first hand on my various trips to visit my daughter who is a film maker and journalist living in Asia.

That is how the idea for the Collins Family Foundation was born! It is a 501 3c Corporation established for non-profit reasons only. Any proceeds from my art sales become the property of the Corporation and will be donated to charitable organizations. My first choice is a charity called “Doctors Without Borders”. They are volunteer medical personnel who are first responders where ever there is a calamity in the world. They recently aided the refugees in the genocidal war in Myanmar. My daughter has gone to Bangledesh in the capacity as an aid worker and seen their work first hand. They were also recently at the devastating tsunami in Indonesia which my daughter covered as a journalist. She also worked alongside them when they needed a hand. I feel this is a good place to share the fruits of my labor and talents. Not only that, but the proceeds are fully deductible to whoever buys any artwork from this Foundation.
