Old school move from one of our firefighters at a large commercial fire today. Our apparatus has been dealing with overheating, but he knows his rig well and took an extra step that most of our engineers wouldn’t have thought of. There is no booster reel on this rig, so he used the wash down line to keep it cool while pumping. He grew up around the firehouse and has a passion for the job rarely seen these days. Job well done,

Christmas came early for me and my dad. We knew the latest addition to our collection was on its way from Alabama, but Johnny Reep said this joker arrived at 3:30 this morning. It’s a 1948 Mack Type 505 Sedan Cab (former Defiance, OH apparatus).

Retired as a Captain from the Little Rock Fire Department after 32 years of service. Nicknamed “Saki”, he was one of my favorite guys to be around as a kid when visiting my dad at the fire station. I was fortunate to be able to work with him several times as a young firefighter before his retirement.

Which former professional athletes do you know who became firefighters?
