We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of another community hero, Andre Smith, who worked tirelessly to bring about an economic upliftment to the underserved neighborhoods. Our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. Andre really wanted to see Las Vegas flourish with the latest and greatest train system in the world built with Veteran produced steel. Until recently, he represented the Ward 5 Chamber of Commerce as our transportation committee Chairman. May he rest in power!

Today we celebrate what would have been Nat King Cole’s 100th birthday. An incredible performer and friend to Sammy, it’s a shame we lost him at such a young age. His talent is unparalleled and through his timeless music... he is truly “Unforgettable.” #sammydavisjr #sammydavis #sammydavisjunior #natkingcole #music #legends #natkingcole100 #birthday #century #celebrate #unforgettable #friends #friendship

This morning we grabbed breakfast and headed to Sammy Davis Jr. Drive with Josh Elliott... the man who helped the Sammy street naming go from just an idea to what we see today. The street naming ceremony was 3 years ago this week, and we are so grateful for Josh’s passion for keeping important figures like Sammy and MLK Jr. a prominent part of our lives today.

This door knocker is a relic I found metal detecting the property at the Harrison House in Las Vegas. (with permission of course). It is not a knockoff copy of this common Qupid motif door knocker. It is an original and is obvious by the photos posted here. It is a valuable collectable for two reasons. One is the vintage character of the piece and secondly the location from where this was found. If you are unaware of what and where the Harrison House in Las Vegas is, I encourage you to google the info and read the history of this unique historical landmark. Although we were unable to find photos of the piece as it was mounted on a door there, we believe it was actually mounted on the front door of the housing at the front part of the property. The proceeds from this sale will be given to the Harrison House fund to be used for the restoration, maintenance and care of the historical Las Vegas landmark. Starting price is $125. Any amount over that would be acknowledged as a generous donation to the support of the site and noted as such. Thanks for looking.
Love is at the door. Yesterday at the Harrison House. With permission to scan the ground with a metal detector. These are the finds. I particularly like the old door knocker.
