At the Lake Geneva Library on Monday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m., performer Chris Brookes will present “Unexpectedly Agatha: A Chat with Agatha Christie.”

In her first person portrayal, Brookes will introduce her audience to the famous writer, Agatha Christie, who made a career out of doing what nobody expected...

Christie wrote Murder on the Orient Express, among many other detective novels and short stories, created fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, and also wrote the world's longest-running play, a murder mystery called The Mousetrap.

In costume, Brookes will portray Christie soon after The Mousetrap opened on the London stage...

Chris Brookes, a Lake Geneva native, grew up at Northwestern Military & Naval Academy, graduated from Badger High School, the University of Michigan, and Viterbo University with degrees in Education and taught in Michigan, Texas, and Wisconsin. After retiring from Lake Geneva Middle School, Chris began performing as the Literature Lady, re-creating historical and literary characters in one-woman shows. Currently, Brookes teaches for Road Scholar, a division of Elderhostel, Inc. and is Outreach Coordinator for Black Point Estate & Gardens.

Brookes also performed at the Bristol Renaissance Faire, and has played multiple characters with community theater companies including the Geneva Theatre Actors Guild. She is a member of the Lake Geneva Library Board of Trustees and Friends of the Lake Geneva Public Library board, WI DPI Children's Performers Speaker’s Bureau, Daughters of the American Revolution, Walworth County Genealogical Society, Geneva Lake Museum, and the Irish American Heritage Center.

Agatha Christie made a career out of doing what nobody expected.
