The Dahl Auto Museum celebrates the Dahl family's involvement as automotive dealers spanning over 100 years and 5 generations. It also features the history of the automobile through the eyes of Ford Motor Company, an extensive mascot collection and many beautifully restored classic automobiles from the turn of the century to present.

Ever wondered what it felt like to sit in a classic car at a Drive-In Theater? Well, you CAN! Experience it at the Dahl Auto Museum with the recreation of the Starlite Drive-In. The Starlite Drive-In opened June 17, 1949 in La Crosse with Robert Young in “Relentless”. Catering to the family trade, children under 12 were free and baby bottle warmers were provided at the concession stand. With space for 600 cars, there were ushers overseen by a ‘Traffic Chief’ with a jeep, provided to pull away disabled vehicles. At least for the opening, the projection booth had two operators and the screen was tilted and the closest rows of cars were at the greatest angle for easy viewing. The theater closed April 23, 1978, with “The Bad News Bears” and “The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training.” So who remembers the Starlite?? http://bit.ly/2WTkb4B

In 1959, he and his wife, Isabelle Haskell, founded their auto building firm De Tomaso Automobil in Modena, Italy. In the mid-1960s, they built the Ford V8 powered mid-engined De Tomaso Mangusta. Vehicle of the Week: 1905 Cadillac Model F Touring Car!
This vehicle was believed to be the very first Cadillac Touring Car to be sold to a person living in La Crosse, Wisconsin at that time. The La Crosse City Attorney and Alderman, Paul W. Mahoney, purchased this 1905 Cadillac on May 24th, 1905 in the Chicago, Illinois area and had it shipped to La Crosse. This Cadillac is believed to be the only automobile known to exist on La Crosse’s north side in 1905. In 1995, it was bought by Stephen and Jeanne Keyser, who restored it with three years of painstaking work, and lots of help from their friends and family.

It featured three trunk drive motors driving four lift jacks, four roof lock motors, ten solenoids, four locking mechanisms for the roof, and 610 feet or wiring. A square tub was designed for the trunk to keep items out of the retractable mechanism. Fuel consumption was around 14 MPG. The fuel tank was placed under the rear seat, which inadvertently added safety in rear collisions.
