The Depot received a donation of Russel Johnson negatives and we found these racing photos. We think it's Stateline Speedway taken in 1956. The photos are of Kane's own Eddie Kisko and the second man might possibly be Dean Layfield. If anyone knows otherwise please let us know.

A $5,000 grant has been awarded to the Kane Depot Preservation Society by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC). The funding will be used to digitize and preserve unpublished documents, photos, film, VHS tapes, cassettes and slides documenting Dr. Edward Heber McCleery’s work to save the Kane lobo wolf.

The grant was awarded through PHMC’s Historical and Archival Records Care (HARC) grant program and is one of more than two dozen announced today for organizations across the state. For more information about the agency, visit www.PHMC.pa.gov.

Don't forget, Allegheny String Quartet will be playing Friday night at Thomas L. Kane Memorial Chapel, 30 Chestnut St., Kane, PA. Free admission, donations welcome.

The program will include Mendelssohn’s scarcely performed “Four Pieces for String Quartet,” which the program derives its name from, containing two contrasting fugue movements among a rich, singing first movement and Midsummer Night-esque Scherzo. Also on the program will be Dvorak’s famous “American” String Quartet. Using American folk songs and spirituals as its musical base. A freewill donation will be taken at the door and during intermission; please consider supporting your local classical musicians.

CORRECT TIME for First Friday music is 5:30-7:30
Hi guys! My name is Timothy. I’ve came up with a unique solution for the Kane Historic Preservation Society and Allegheny National Forest to try. I call it “Kinzua Forest Railroad National Park”. The Railway will start from Kane Pennsylvania before reaching its terminus at The Kinzua Bridge State Park, where passengers can walk on top of the bridge, and view the countryside. Building the railroad and rebuilding history will still take a lot of money and a long time before the you and Allegheny National Forest are ready, but with it will be worth it, and it’s going to be a lot of fun to bring back Steam era to Kane and the Allegheny Forest! 😊🚂🚂 If there’s anyway I could help you guys with, please reach out to me. Thanks 😊

what is the name of the wolf sculptor, and where is he from?
I am wondering if there might be anyone on this page that might have known a family from Kane, Pennsylvania with the last name of Berkhouse. They lived on Yarnell Street until they moved to 94 Clay Street in the 50's. Harvey Berkhouse was a lawyer and served on the school board in the 30's. He was married to Virginia Bray Berkhouse. They had four daughters, Ethel, Helen, Versel and Virginia, who was my mother.
Can anyone tell me the location of the pump station established in the early 1880's at Kane? Are there any old photos of this or the process of getting ready for pipelines and tanks/barrels?
I have an cousin, Martin Dunkle, who’s Death Certificate, has him buried in Daniel’s Burial Ground. Is this cemetety the same as the Clarington Methodist Church Cemetery?
Trying to find out what year The Salvation Army in Kane was closed.
My entire dad's side of the family is from Kane. I live in Indiana. Could anyone help guide me in how to find out anything about that side of my family? Grandfather last name was Stewart and grandmother's last name was Dodge
