Juneau Nimbus

Juneau Nimbus Nimbus, a public sculpture in Juneau, Alaska Currently, there is a bronze bear sculpture near the Dimond Courthouse where Nimbus used to stand.

Nimbus was commissioned for the Dimond Courthouse, and upon arrival in Juneau in 1978, immediately became an object of scorn and ridicule. Weighing in at five tons, the abstract sculpture cost $40,000 and was called "Juneau Green" by creator Robert Murray. In 1984, bowing to the haters, the sculpture was moved to storage for a few years and then installed in its present location near the Alaska State Museum. "Windfall Fisherman'' by Skip Wallen was commissioned in 1984 and people seem to feel more reassured by it's easily recognizable form.
