Rusk County Daily Update - April 3
Total Positive Cases in Rusk County: 11
Total Cases Recovered: 1
-----------------------------------------------------
Total Cases in Texas: 5,478
Total Cases in Neighboring Counties:
Smith County: 53
Gregg County: 10
Cherokee County: 5
Harrison County: 5
Shelby County: 10
Panola County: 4
Nacogdoches County: 12
Total Deaths in Texas: 91
Total Tested in Texas: 55,764
------------------------------------------------------
RUSK COUNTY: DSHS has reported four new cases in Rusk County over the past 24 hours. One case was reported in the Mt. Enterprise area and three in the Garrison area (with Rusk County addresses) with two of those hospitalized. None of the four new cases are travel related but rather are considered "community spread."

GO HOME, STAY HOME: Rusk County residents should go home and stay home unless conducting ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL activities. They should only have contact with people in their own household. The Governor's order extends through May 1st.
------------------------------------------------------

The OEM will be providing an update each day after 4pm with local information specific to Rusk County. As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to evolve and change we want to give you the most accurate and timely local information as well as help you find state and national info.

In order to keep our page from becoming confusing, we are trying not to duplicate valuable information available at national and statewide websites.

For Statewide Info: See DSHS’s page (https://www.dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/) has the latest available info on cases across the state. Note that some numbers reported by the state may be lower due to delays in reporting. Governor's office website (gov.texas.gov/coronavirus) has the latest news and resources concerning statewide declarations, restrictions and assistance.

For National Info: The CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) has the latest info on the national situation as well as major guidelines and recommendations.

The OEM is in contact with DSHS on a daily basis and frequently with the Governor’s office. However, sometimes new information is limited. DSHS reports only positive cases to the OEM. They do not release how many Rusk County cases are suspected or even how many people have been tested. While we may occasionally hear from someone in the community about suspected cases or people being tested, we typically will only share info coming from a confirmed source (official statement, city or local government, school district, etc.).
