Today we remember the composer Harry Partch, who passed away on this day in 1974. Partch is known for composing in microtonal tunings, or musical tunings not available on conventional instruments. And for having created many unique instruments to accommodate these tunings.

We keep this transcription of Harry's "Study On Archytas' Enharmonic" atop another such instrument based around microtonality, the Scalatron. The Scalatron and the Harry Partch transcription came to us from George Secor, the co-inventor of the Scalatron and a composer/music theorist also known for his use of microtonality.

Both Harry and George are greatly missed and we're proud to represent both of their legacies and to represent microtonal music as part of the larger history of music technology.
