The last Volunteer Keeper Shift of the 2026 Grand Opening retreat season just left the island on Sept 1, ERLPA successfully kept the lighthouse manned for FOURTEEN WEEKS! Only one week to go of contract work before winter closure. Make Eldred Rock a part of your retreat plans next summer! We recently received a donation from the grandchildren of Eldred Rocks First Head Keeper Nils Adamson 1906-11 of his flag like this one that he flew at The Rock. Fantastic maritime heritage being kept alive!

What a week it has been for lighthouses!

On August 4th, our nation celebrated the United States Coast Guard's 236 birthday, which traces its roots back to the formation of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service in 1790.

Then on August 7th, we celebrated National Lighthouse Day, which commemorates the day (August 7, 1789) Congress approved an Act for the establishment and support of lighthouse, beacons, buoys and public piers.

The country shined a bright spotlight on lighthouses and the U.S. Coast Guard this past week - it doesn't get any better than this!
