Dana Mendoza built this one by himself. Beautiful cypress. Sinker pulled out of the swamp in 1975 and sitting in a shed for 44 years!

Come joins us on the 25th. This exhibit is amazing! And Ory had his hand in this also.

As many of you are aware, Orie passed away in January. Because of his untimely death, all things associated with the club and/or the Bayou Chene Reunions are in limbo.
Since nobody has stepped up yet, I'm taking it upon myself to at least be a clearinghouse for information regarding anything concerning the putt-putts.
My contact info is: Paul Bouy Jr, Plaquemine, LA, 225-205-1428 cell. You can also IM me here on Facebook. I don't answer phone numbers with no id, so just leave a voicemail and I WILL return your call.
As of now, there is no info on the pilgrimage scheduled for April 27th. Unless someone takes this on, it won't happen this year.

Ory, Dana and Glenn Patrick decided it would be educational to show how running hoop nets were done many years ago. These nets were only set for a couple of days. Imagine having them set for a week and being almost full of fish. Than imagine raising, emptying and resetting them by yourself times by how many nets on your string. I'll bet that was a full day's work!

The addition is almost ready to be opened to the public. We had the chance to get a sneak peek today with Ory Mendoza. Jean Crites, the owner, has done a super fantastic job of assembling some of the best the Atchafalya has to offer that shows the way of life of our ancestors.
You need to make the trip to Grosse Tete (across from the Welcome Center) and treat yourself and your family to this jewel of a gift shop/museum. You won't be sorry.
